You are all so kind, thanks for the hugs!
I think I might have a cup of tea and a rest 8) and I am being cooked a roast dinner tonight by the mother in law - my day is getting better and better
Any one for a cuppa?0 -

Thank you for the encouragement with the paracetamol. I will keep taking it over the weekend and hopefully that will bash it all on the head.
How are you today?

I'm good today thanks and I've just had a cuppa with you and I also stole a couple of my hubby's chocolate truffles out of the fridge, YUM.
I like rheumatoid because it sounds like android and I walk like a robot (or penguin) with my RA.
Have you got a Tens machine - I find mine very helpful with my larger joints when I'm feeling grim?

stlucia wrote:Dear all, thank you so much for your replies. I've managed to sort myself out this morning and get some breakfast - even if it has taken me until 10.15!
To be honest, I'm almost scared to say that the medication isn't really helping as we are hoping to try for a baby next year and I am aware that I will have to come off all meds about 6 months before we start trying...and if I start off on new medication then they might want me to try it for a while...ugh! I just don't know what to do.
I'm on 15 mg of Mtx (having been on 7.5mg for 10 years, and then upped to 10mg and then 15mg in the last year), and I have been on Diclofenac but don't feel that really helps either!! I'm not sure what my options are anymore. I've been on Sulphasalazine with no effect, in the past.
Thanks so so so much for your help and support.

Hello Lucia
Sorry to hear you're in a quandary at present :!:
I'm somewhat surprised to learn that you are on such a low dose of MTX considering the length of time you've been taking it and the fact that you're clearly suffering.
I started MTX approx. eight weeks ago (10mg) with increments of 2.5mg weekly. I am now on 20mg pw plus Naproxen and paracetmol. In the event that this combination fails, the Rheumy will add Sulphasalazine.
As for trying for baby; no one can force you to take medication if you don't want to, it's your choice. Good news - I came off my meds 9 months before I tried for my baby; managed with paracetomal (when pain got too much) and lots of rest :!: :!: You can do it too :!: :!: :!: :!:
Good luck
Pure wishes & love

Hey stlucia
I'm RA (+) too and have had the evil vile life limiting disease since I was a child, but not diagnosed til I was 19. I'm 42.
I'm glad you're feeling a little brighter, hope you feel better soon.
I'd second contacting your consultant's secretary immediately. My hospital is hopeless at emergencies, but that seems to be the quickest way to be seen. I have "good" blood too, it's so frustrating when you feel like ****.0 -
Hi Stlucia
hoping you are feeling a wee bit better?
I agree with you all paracetamol helps!! It reduces your temp - which you might have if you are so very very tired at the mo. People poo-poo it dont they?
Hoping you enjoyed your roast and it has restored some of your vigour - missed my cuppa and it's gone cold now
Love

Hi Stlucia
Glad to see you sounding brighter!
This forum really is encouraging and the reply from Whitey even more encouraging! Good luck with it all! CB0 -
Hello StLucia
How are you feeling today :?: Much better I hope.
We've all sent lots of loving care which I would like to think combined with meds have taken the sharpest edge off the pain.
I was so amazed & surprised to learn that you are experiencing similar symptoms to mines at this present time. "Its all over my body and my muscles hurt too;" Arthur is giving special treatment to Sternum, lumbar and every inch of right leg.
In twenty years this has been the first occasion that muscles have been affected. Arthur likes to play with us; always attention seeking. ( Naughty, naughty) :!: Don't give in, never give up. REMEMBER lean on our forum family :!:
Take good care and lots of rest.
Pure wishes & love

Hello Lucia
Sorry - I've only just caught up with your posts...
Sorry that you are feeling so rough at the moment.. Hope the rheumy can help you next week..
There are some RA drugs that you can take through pregnancy by the way, and you can also take steriods.. you should raise this with the rheumy too..
Let us know how you get on..
