advice on use of heat for pain relief

Hi Bluebeard - I love heat for OA pain, though if my OA knees swell I do use ice then. I use wheatie bags heated in microwave - put a small cup of water in the microwave too for safety reasons. I also use a hot water bottle and in cold weather wear "passion killers!" (thermals.) In winter I cover my legs in a fleece blanket when relaxing. I used to have an electric blanket on my bed - but now have a memory foam mattress - and don't think the two are compatible.
Hope the heat helps.

PS I used to have and love a heated car seat for winter car journeys too (my joints HATE the winter.) It eventually stopped working ... must consider replacing it.I have had OA since mid twenties. It affects my hips and knees. I had a THR on the left aged 30 and now have a resurface-replacement on the right - done May 2010.0 -
