Aches and pains

Hello, I woke up in the early hours of the morning with a lot of pain all over my body, my left hand seemed worse, which sounds funny, but it felt as it was being crushed and the index finger and thumb wouldn't bend. My wrist felt in the wrong position too, sort of turned in. After a bit, managed to move my fingers and although painful, they work. although my index finger is still hard and painful to bend. All my joints felt warm and stiff, from my toes to my jaw. I was quite frightened and had visions of hospital A&E!

Now I'm up and about, my joints are less stiff but my arms and wrists seem to have lumpy one has a red patch swollen wrists. Some of my joints look a bit bruised and I feel a bit funny.

I've never felt quite like this, so it may be a virus with my OA. I still worry that one doc thought I had seroneg RA but the consultant said it didn't exist and I just had 'normal wear and tear' but need a spinal scan to be sure. I havn't heard anymore about this!
I should ring but I seem to always be contacting them about my probs and the last consultant was very unhelpful and unpleasent, I thought. Though nothing to really complain about, just we didn't hit it off. I think he thought I was swinging the lead! :( I wish!

I have my sister and her husband visiting for a few days on Thursday, and I want to be fit and well for that.

Love Sue

    Hi Sue

That sounds awful - I am so sorry you are being thrown so much pain.

Get it checked out. Go today so you are not stressing out for too long. Try not to fret about your visitors either. I know it would be better to be fighting fit however concentrate on yourself.

I so hope you start to feel a bit better and get some answers.

    A HUGE hug.

    Hi Sue,

sounds as though you're having a massive flare. :(

I wouldn't be happy with that consultant who said there's no such thing as sero-negative arthritis. :x  it's the umbrella term for the inflammatory arthers that have a negative blood test result for rheumatoid factor and he should know that. grrrrr!!!!
lots of us on the forum have sero neg arther...PA, AS , Reiter's. juvenile arther are all sero negatives!

perhaps you need to ask to be referred to a different rheummy who understands the 'variety' of different arthers and will look again at your history and symptoms?

If you are feeling fluey and have stiff sore inflamed (red) joints then perhaps you would be better seeing the doc today. when did you last have your bloods done :?: you might need some change in meds....and as you've got new symptoms it would be best to be checked out.

don't be worrying about visitors...especially if they are family..they could help you and let you rest. :?

hope you aren't suffering too much Sue. will look in on you later.

I have felt flu like and although I havn't taken my temp. I have felt hot and sweaty and lightheaded. I think my doc is away, but their are others, of course. I just hate having to give in and go back. I also must admit that I feel so tired and don't feel like going!
Thank you for the reply. Love Sue

Hi couldn't get an ordinary appointment for a week, but I could see the duty doc. I've left it for today, things are a little better but not write yet. I wish they could sort it out at the hospital and decide what they think is causing it. As soon as one of them come up with something, the other disagrees and orders more tests! Same old, same old. Never mind, I'll go and talk properly at a proper appointment and next week! Love Sue

Hi I think so, but my fingers are sore and I keep dropping things! I feel a little less flu'y today. I have an appointment on Tuesday and I want to talk over all the things that have been going on  My GP is off sick, but I've got an appointment with doctor that I know and I've helped examin the dementia patients at work. She seems very kind and patient. I am feeling better today, I think.

    Love Sue

I hope you are continuing to feel a little better today woodbon. Have you made a note of all the things you want to discuss? It does help to write it all down! DD
Have you got the despatches? No, I always walk like this. Eddie Braben

    Hi Sue

I'm glad you've made an appointment and it does sound good tat you'll be seeing a doc that you know has time, knowledge and patience.

Do you have someone there with you at home/.... you do sound as though you could do with a bit of pampering and looking after.

As DD said...be sure to write down all your symptoms..and questions..for your doc appointment. It does help!

    gentle (((hugs)))

    Hi Sue

Would your GP do blood tests for CRP and ESR? These would show up inflammation.

I'm a little worried for you as my hands always feel like they have been 'crushed' and my fingers go bent and painful when I am having an RA flare-up....

It would be worth taking a photo of your hand like this, because it might pass off in a day or two and then you would have no 'evidence' of what it was like.

Sorry that you hare having a rough time..

    Take care
