Hi to All, I am going into hospital on wednesday The Freeman in Newcastle upon Tyne to have an Angioplasty because I have recently had a heart attack. I will be a bag of nerves when I go in, The Hospital has a great record in such matters but it does not stop you being worried. Since Getting RA really badly (the last 12 Months) I have had so many problems. Heart problems of qiute prevellent in RA I was wondering does anyone else have or had any heart problems. I know everything will be fine but I think everyone worries (I am a big softy really) I have read the heart problems come hand in hand wiyh RA so Iam sure someone will know thanks from a big sofrty

Hi John
I don't have any experience of this however I send lots of positive and quick healing thoughts to you.
It'll be done and dusted before you know it.
All the best

Oh handsy, I am so sorry. I don't know how you must be feeling but I am sure they will take very good care of you and will help you. Try to focus on the positive side of it all - this procedure is designed to help you and make things run/tick better, and that is a good thing. We will be thinking of you, so check in here when you can and let us know how you got on. DDHave you got the despatches? No, I always walk like this. Eddie Braben0

I don't know if its any comfort but the Freeman is where my husband works as a cardiologist so it’s a fair chance I will know the person doing your angioplasty or even be married to him!
They are generally a nice bunch and do have a very good record and should look after you well, if not let me know and i’ll kick them for you! (and if its my husband i'll kick him hard )
It natural to be nervous in these cases but its for a good cause and should make things easier for you in the long run
Good luck and let us know how you get on

Hi Handsy, like you, I am aware that people with RA can have a significantly higher risk of heart disease - something of which may docs (particularly GPS) are apparently unaware.
I am so sorry about your heart attack and will be thinking of you on Weds when you go for your angioplasty. Whenever I have been for any kind of op or procedure, I have found the operating and anaesthetics staff to be so kind and very understanding of the fact that people are nervous and given the Hospital's great track record, I am sure you will be very well looked after.
Lots love, Tilly x0 -
