tonesp has done the sensible thing and emigrated to Espana. Appasrently they have something called 'sunshine' there, which is supposed to be good for arthritic people. I'm not sure what 'sunshine' is tho - it's a happy-sounding word however.

tonesp, I reckon resting before is sensible - you've a dodgy hip remember! Post-op they will give you specific exercises to do - I've just remembered that mike has done a wonderful checklist on another thread, of things to think about before hip ops. Can't remember which thread tho. I'll go and check and come back.

Right: it's on page 2 of the 'grateful for any tips' thread on LWA. Not all of it will be relevant to you tonesp, but some parts might be useful! DD

serioulsy when is it happening? If it's soon I would rest for sure and then you can exercise after like the man says.

Hi, Do you think Spanish sunshine would be good for my oa aches and pains and would the doc give me a free prescription!!!!

Seriously, I think for most things in life, being fit is a good thing and leads to quicker recovery. Can you get a physio or someone training could give you the best exercises for your op. Or have the Spanish docs sent you some?

Good luck for a speedy recovery!!!

I lived in Spain for a year and found it incredibly difficult with the healthcare. The language is such a barrier and the resurrection of my RA was one of the main reasons we returned to the UK.

I wish you luck ...keep us posted.

    Hope tests went well.

My OA joints are always much better in the warmth than in the cold.

I have had OA since mid twenties. It affects my hips and knees. I had a THR on the left aged 30 and now have a resurface-replacement on the right - done May 2010.
