Hi all, been to see consultant today about knees, they was going to do knee reallignment, which could have made arthritis bit easier for a while but they decided its not worth the pain of op's and it will make knees worse after a while.
I am gutted as i have given in and started using a stick to get around but was thinking this will just be until my knees are fixed and now i find they cant do anything at all for them, so im just having half hour feel sorry for myself, then ill pick myself back up and get a grip and get on with things

Hope you are all on a good day :)
Lynn x

    Hi Lynn,

so sorry you've had such a disappointing appointment. :(

I'm sure they really do have you best interests at heart but to misinform you about the likelihood of the realignment was....as it turned out...shattering news.

please don't feel you are 'giving in' by using a stick...you are protecting your joints which can only be a positive thing.... I do understand how you feel about it though.

perhaps speaking with your doc about the outcome of this consultation would be a good thing? did the rheummy say what they next propose doing?

    chin up Lynn.

    gentle (((hugs)))

Hi Iris, i dont have a rheummy as it is osteo and my GP changes every 5 minutes so i never see same doctor twice. consultant said it would be more painful for me to have the op's than not so i understand it is better for me and im glad he hasnt just operated. As it is he said that my knees maybe wont get any better but also wont get any worse, so thats a relief!!
    Every cloud....

    Thanks Iris
    Take care

    Hello Lynn,
Sorry that you had such a dissapointment today,
Did they not give you any advice to help you cope? Supports or exercises?
It seems to be getting harder to see the same GP these days.

Sorry about the stick but as you have found out needs must.

    Hi Ironic,
Gave me an exercise to do and suggested using exercise bike so will give that a go, they said it might make it a bit easier but wont get rid of it completely, never mind
    Thanks for reply

It's a blow. I am sorry. The support of a stick is a good thing tho, it will ease the strain on your joints and may well help with the discomfort. You will get used to it - and you can buy some very pretty ones too! Colour co-ordinated and everything! I wish you well. DD

    Hi Lynn
Sorry about the disappointment...that must have come as a shock...but if its going to be worse better not to have it and as for the stick...look on line at all the jazzy/pretty sticks you can get......and thibnk of it as a coping mechanism.....to help you do things easier than you would wiothout it.....it is a positive...

    Love

    Hi Lynne

Good to see you are feeling more and more positive.

I know what you mean about using a stick. I tried but my wrists cannot bear the weight so cannae use one. Secretly I was glad in a quirky way as I too didn't like the idea of being a stick user. Stupid I know but there you are!

Before trying it I toyed with the idea of getting a string of fairy lights which run on batteries and winding them around it so I could label myself as eccentric and just look like a mad funky woman

Just dropped in to say how sorry I am about the cancelled op. We put such hope in these things and its so disappointing when things go wrong. Still, maybe with time you will see their reasons and be glad you didn't have a useless op. You could try discussing things with your GP, who may be able to point out why this is the bes toption and maybe suggest some physio or pain relief/pain clinic that will help you. Love Sue
