DLA and Consultant Report...

Ok where do I start... sorry this is kind of a long one
I have sent in my DLA form and received the usual standard letter acknowledging receipt but advising they will be requesting a report from my Consultant.
This is fine as I have nothing to hide but the last time I saw my Consultant was in February and I have gotten sooo much worse since then During my initial examination with him, whilst I have pains in my feet and fingers, I did manage to touch my toes, turn my hands over etc... (typically I was having a good day!) but he did confirm it was OA and sent me for x-rays and bloods and referred me to alot of very helpful people so I presume he took me seriously.
However, since then the OA has spread to so many more joints. I can't bend down at all any more, I couldn't even think about getting down on the floor let alone back up again, I can't bend my wrists or turn my hands (much to the annoyance of several till ladies who try to put change in my hands only for it to roll off  ) my neck is affected and my grip/strength is non-existant.
So now I am concerned that he will write a report consistant with my appointment in February. I have contacted my GP who told me to ring his secretary to get a review appointment and she has kindly made me one for September 14th... do you think the Consultant will wait until he's seen me for my review before he sends out a report? I wouldn't have thought he would advise on my condition until I have had this review appointment.
Im a little anxious now as I don't want the DLA to get old information
Any opinions would be appreciated.
Thanks

Hi Caroline
I think it woudl be worth you writing to the consultant asking him to defer doing the report until after he has seen you in September.
It might be worth phoning the secetary also and telling her about it too.
Best wishes

Hi Caroline
Just in case it helps with the timings perhaps you could also write a letter to your Consultant detailing your worsening symptoms so he has it on his record as well as trying to have them hurry up your appointment and defering his opinion until he/she sees you again.
Good luck.

Hi and thanks, after reading your posts I contacted my Consultant's secretary this morning to ask if he could wait before providing a report and I was told that apparently he doesn't do DLA reports anymore due to the fact that GP's tend to see their patients more often... (that kind of makes sense as I see my GP so much more than the Consultant)
Anyhoo.... As I see my GP on a pretty regular basis and have seen him everytime Ive gotten worse or had problems (plus I have a further appointment with him tomorrow for blood test results and muscular pain Im now getting), I shall leave it in his hands.
Thanks for the advice though, it is appreciated x0
