I had a very productive appointment at CAB today. The lady was really thorough and helped me to answer the questions with more detail. The half hour appointment was an hour plus.

Previously my form had been filled in by another help group and to be truthful it was not giving the full picture.I had felt rushed.

Now to fill a few address details in and send it off.

Sorry I missed your post Elna.

I dont think I stood a chance with my first set of answers on the dla form. I am annoyed that the woman was so unhelpful. At CAB this lady was great and gave me time to talk and think about my replies and also was able to point things out to me such as my medication side-effects and how these also impact on your life.

Still dont think I will get any DLA as I can see so many others worse off than me being refused but at least I have given it my best shot.

    Thanks Barbara.

I was put off by the queues and the CAB system but I think it was worth it in the end as this lady seemed to understand the forms and how to answer them. I would definately advise others to visit them.

    Hi Elizabeth,

Glad you got some help now. I think its often down to the luck of the draw in respect of who you see not what organisation and f course I also believe 3/4 don't even get looked at......

Will keep my fingers crossed and at least the appeals are fairer and are looked at. Hope you soon hear something. ((((( ))))) Cris xx

    Hi Elizabeth

So glad you had such a good appointment at CAB and feel that you had a good advisor helping you with the forms this time. Do hope it is good news for you and that you are feeling better than of late.
Well done for getting it done and we are crossing our fingers for you. Let us know when you hear from them. I received two sets of forms on the same day recently, one addressed to Mrs and one to Miss. I just knew she wasn't listening when I phoned for them.
    take care

Hope you have the same input from CAB adviser. It does help when they are on your side. The other lady and I don't get on despite her seeing me in awful pain when she first helped me. She ticked the no box -have you been in hospital recently-before Id had a chance to answer and then looked at me in shock when I told her Id had a THR a year ago. Its not like Im making it up!!!!!The CAB lady was observing me and pointing things out to me such as the problems I was having when I got a text during the appointment.i was all fingers and thumbs.I dropped my trusty bag full of forms and paperwork all over the floor too.

Keep both sets of forms incase you make a mistake. Mind you mine is now a mess from having to alter so much. Hope it doesnt put the DLA peeps off.
Really hoping you get it all sorted soon,
    Elizabeth

I am glad too considering they did say CAB lady might not even turn up for appointment if needed over at the other local office.

    Hello Speedy,
Nice to hear from you. All respite has now finished and have 1 and a half weeks of school holiday left.Pleased to tell you Lucy is taking regular medicine followed by a twister lolly, drinking lots of water and eating fruit. We are STILL waiting but feeling more confident now. Have a hospital appointment 22nd September to remove it if all else fails and hoping to avoid this.
Thursday was my last free day so everything has worked out well.I can relax now about the forms although I hate getting the refusal letter.

And its also down to the doctor visit and how well the GP etc write reports. You never know what they will write.
In the meantime 2 lots of DLA/carers is going to stop and that is going to make things difficult as sons DLA is pending too. I will have to make some cuts.Already warned the OH to grow more veg and stop using the car for silly little trips cos of the cost of petrol.
In fact I will have to cancel my hair appointment.

I have a hip op in the offing and an ankle fusion but whether they take that into consideration Im not sure.

Hope you are coping Cris. You do so well despite everything.

    Hi Iris,
Glad your wrist is improving. Was it you who knows a good elbow surgeon? My elbows are permanently stuck and just wish I could do something about them.
