Hi Saggy (I can't call you that),

welcome to the site and they are looking for ra but they need more results before they will know as bloods can fluctuate.

How long before you have to go back to see the rumo can I ask? Will keep my fingers crossed they find out whats going on and help you soon. Nice to meet you. Cris x

    Hi Cris

saggy = Michele, many thanks for responding

Im not due to go back until Mid October which im finding really difficult and the pain is sometimes unbearable! Does a high RF mean I may have RA?

    Hi Michele,

Its a long time to wait when your worried! It might mean that flower but it might not as bloods can fluctuate, hence the extra test they are doing. What might be a good idea is to see your gp and get some different or better help with the pain. ideally you could do with an anti inflammatory and a pain killer.

How are you in your self cus its very frightening but I don't have ra but I do have oa and pa (pa is like its twin) and the one thing I can say is it does get better.

Rest when you need to and be gentle on the bits that hurt but try and keep them moving and with a bit of luck your gp will come up with a tablet routine that will help you. Cris x

I don't have the right sort of arthritis to help out on this either: have you tried googling RF factor? Whatever you read, don't get frightened by it! Sundays are a little quieter on the forums but I do hope someone will come along who can give you more information. The helpline will be open tomorrow too, I'm sure they can advise. Don't panic: you've found us, we'll see you through. DD

    Hi Michele,

I am sure he will help and there are so many combinations so if one doesn't work another one might. Hang in there and this Lot will be here for you if you need them but please let us know how it goes.

Hey just go in and be honest with the gp, don't play down the pain and hopefully he will tide you through to October. He might also be able to help with all the questions you must have running round your head. You look after your self and keep posting. Cris x

    Hi Saggy,

I feel your anguish, I have been waiting over 2 months to see a Rheumatologist since I first had a high RF factor. Once I had an RF factor, they then sent me off for a cholesterol test, Full blood count, a CRP count, and 2 other tests which have escaped my brain at this moment and some xrays. So although you don't know what's going on, you don't know that its not something minor, (Think glass half empty, half full) that its not don't panic, its only a small part of the puzzle and as others have said bloods fluctuate a lot. It always amazes me how things like a simple cold can send some things off the scale.

I am sure this lot will help you, as they have been a life line for me and my random panics, but for now, eat healthily, and take it easy.

    Hi Michele

Welcome to the Forum, but sorry that you have got such a worry at the moment.

Do you get on OK with your GP? I think it's worth making an appointment to discuss things with him/her - perhaps he/she could phone the Rheumy's secretary and get you an earlier 2nd appointment - October is a long way away when you are in pain..

As the other peeps have said, the Rheumatoid Factor (RF) is one piece of the jigsaw - it might mean you have RA but it might not...

It would be worth while you keeping a diary of your symptoms. any aches/pains, tiredness, etc, so that you can show the doctor/Rheumy at your next appointment.

Please keep posting and let us know how you get on - and feel free to ask any questions whatsoever - however simply/silly you think they might be!

    Take care

    Hi, Welcome to the forum.
I think Marion has given you some good pointers there.
Just to say my RF is sky high, it always gets mentioned when I go for appt. over 2000 :? Saying that I am managing very well on the mild meds. In other words RF is not the main tool to idenify RA.

Please do not feel that you are on your own. I know you are frightened and confused but things will get better.

Keep in touch and let us know how you are getting on.
