There's at least one positive with RA!

    Hi,
What time were you up then? Hope you had breakfast before hitting computer. Its a very interesting item. It shows why people with Arthritis are not as dull as they think we are. As I've only got osteo p'raps I am.
    Best wishes, Al

People with arthritis can be very dull if that's all they drone on about. Personally, I would far rather be pain-free for most of my life then lose it mentally than have what I am enduring. I know all about old age now, about 30 years too early. DD

Little one had me up at 5.50, which is OK given I was up at 5 yesterday... :?

Who says people with arthritis are dull? If that's what people think then they're far more ignorant than I thought...

I didn't mean to step on anyone's toes. :( Just wanted to share what I thought was an interesting article. I know that (any type of) arthritis is hell, and I can only try to imagine what all you long-term sufferers are going through. I'd wish my other health problems away too if I could, not just the ReA.

At least there's ongoign research, THAT'S a positive. Here's to them finding a way to stop RA, OA and any other type of it too :!:

Wow! Bright and early starts for you! At least you are waking for a nice reason, not just because of pain!

Research is ongoing and they will find things out, but it is a hugely slow process as the mechanisms behind RA and allied conditions - the over-active immune system - are still a bit of a mystery. Arthritis is complicated and so individual in how it affects people. I never expected to get it - I was expecting diabetes, after years of inhaled steroids - but now I know there is a genetic link I can see why I do have it. DD

I agree SS. Its bad enough having arthritis without feeling boring and guilty about it. I dont often talk about it cos others dont understand but certainly not going to deny it.

I reckon the OH will get dementia so I will have to care for him with my crooked hands, and try to supervise him. What a pair we will be,

thanks for the link SS....very interesting! I like your positive thinking :D

if the researchers can find a cure for Alzheimer's then that would be just wonderful...it is an awful condition robbing the person by increments of their personality and functioning :(

Thanks for the link SS. I too found it very interesting and am quite relieved that I can cross that illness off the very long 'Worry-about' list that I have in my head!

Alzheimers is an incredibly cruel disease and it's reassuring to know that my kids won't have to endure my having that. My friend's mum has it very badly and it is heartbreaking to see this once strong woman become no more than a vegetable.

    Hi Sillyswede -

    thanks for link.

I have always joked (many a true word said in jest) that I know what it is like to be old ... the time leading up to and the rehab period before and after two hip ops. I also reckon most very old folks either lose their mobility or their marbles in the end and have always joked I'll be in the first camp, but would rather be in the second ....

I have had OA since mid twenties. It affects my hips and knees. I had a THR on the left aged 30 and now have a resurface-replacement on the right - done May 2010.

i think what I was trying to say on my post was it still could effect us in some way. We may still have to live with it if others we are close to get dementia.

    Hi Speedy,

We both know what it is like to have to look after others who need lots of supervision. Hope your holiday is going okay. We have had a few 'issues' to deal with this past week and it has not been easy,
