Hey Everyone

Just a quick message, its been a 1 week since I was told I have severe osteoarthritis at the age of 33 :( ! not the best news to have at my age!But got my MRI scan in 9wks to see how far it is and where to go next.

However have given my self a few slaps this week and thinking there are so many people worse off than me, and that its a good thing that I now know what's been causing the pain for the last 5months :) !

I know the pain isn't gonna go away over night and its more-likely to get worse before it gets better  ! But gonna start to try and stay positive and not shut my self off and hide away, like I have been this week.. and let people help me and not be so stubborn and be independent Annie..lol.

Anyhow enough of me muttering on, just wanna say thanks to everyone's kind messages and help, in my previous post's ! :D

xx

    Hi Lisa

You have had a big shock, so it is ok to feel down and a week is a very short time. So don't be so hard on yourself as acceptance of any disease or illness takes time and to be honest sometimes we can learn to live with it but not accept it ever.

You will need to just take one day at a time, if you have a good GP and hospital team that will really help to make the most of what you have. The MRI scan will help the docs to put a plan together for you.

Sometimes people are relieved to have a diagnosis as it is an explanation for the pain.

I would get as much information about your condition as you can, I don't mean just surfing the net but get information from reputable charities and organisation about your condition, treatment and other advice. If you contact Arthritis care they will send you a pack.

Keep posting as that can really help also.

Well done for picking yourself up.

    Hi Lisa :D

Great to read how positive you're being. but as Fayann has said don't be too hard on yourself for needing some time out to come to terms with your shock diagnosis.

Hopefully in 9 weeks the docs will have all the information they need to decide on a treatment plan. :D

Hope you're not in too much pain 'til then and your doc being supportive.

Keep posting Lisa. Being on the forum has helped so many of us through difficult times... but has also created lots of opportunity to relax and have fun too. So remember to have a look and join in the CC forum

Hope you're having a good weekend.

    Hi Lisa :):D

What an uplifting posting to read from you, one week, on. Bless you. That's our girl! Don't worry if you go two steps forward and one back, brush yourself down, call in on here and we will get you on the up and up again. We all have our bad days and weeks as most people do in all walks of life. At least we have this forum to use as often or as little as we please.

The CC forum is the ChitChat zone, you will find it on here along with the Living with Arthritis zone which is this one, there is the Young People's zone, the Hello zone and the Helpline zone and the Working Matters Zone. The CC zone is like it says, chatting about anything and everything generally "non-arthur" related and there is the cafe which is immensely popular, the bar and other things to join in with should you please. :)

    You look after yourself,

    Luv

I have had OA since mid twenties. It affects my hips and knees. I had a THR on the left aged 30 and now have a resurface-replacement on the right - done May 2010.

    Hi Tillypink

Its good to hear your starting to feel a bit more positive. You are entitled to feel all sorts of emotions and we're all hear to listen. We're all going through the same things, one way or another and here to support you.

Its great that your OH and your family are so supportive. Mine are too and it makes a lot of difference to how you cope. Without my husband and my family, I don't know how Id be today.

Considering you only found out 1 week ago, I think you're doing brilliantly. The hardest part is accepting help when you need it. There's nothing wrong with that, I welcome it these days, gives me chance to rest now and then :)

Keep smiling as much as you can and if you do ever have down days, we are here for you x

I don't know what Id do without this website really. It's been so great for me, even if I havent posted its been a great source of information from people who are actually going through the same things.

Everyone is entitled to a down day. Ive had a fair few of them myself over the last 6 months, the odd days spent on the sofa in my comfies with a blankets, a brew and the tv, had a little sob but always felt better afterwards and ready to fight another day.

But for every 'off' day Ive had, Ive also had some fantastic days where Ive been ready to face everything.

Recently, my wonderful sister~in~law sent me a bunch of flowers to cheer me up by courier which really brightened my day.

You're among friends here thats for sure x

I dont know what I would have done without the peeps on here.....Once I found out I was having a hip replacement...I bombarded everyone with silly questions {they wern't silly to me} like how do you sleep on your back afterwards.....my answer ....you dont LOL...I havent asked any questions this time 'cause I think it wont be much different 8 months on but no doubt something will come up and I'll ask.

    Hi Lisa,
Have a restful day tomorrow. There's not much you can do until the scan is done although 9 weeks is a long time to wait when you are worried.

You have done really well coming to terms with things but be kind to yourself and take things easy.

    Lisa,

Like you I'm only 36 and have Fibro and OA, and it's a bit of a shock isn't it? But staying positive is a good thing to do.

That is what I admire most about the people on here. EVen though there must be days when they could quite happily donate themselves to medical science, they keep on smiling and being supportive and have a massive sense of humour to go with it.

I hope your scan goes well. At least knowing what you are dealing with gives you some power over managing it.

    Gentle hugs!
    Ange..xx
