That is good news dayllily - a new doctor, a new beginning, let's hope this works out better for you. Start as you mean to go on: always take a list of questions with you, even if there's only one on the list it's a start! Don't let them browbeat you: this is your health at stake. Be polite, but firm. It isn't easy at first, I know that - could you take a friend for moral support when you have your first appointment? DD
Have you got the despatches? No, I always walk like this. Eddie Braben

    Hi Dayliy

So glad you have a doc now.

That is very good news. My docs wont do anything home visits wise anyway  Sure that will make only a little diference.

Oh daylily, that is a shame - and very isolating. Social skills are not easy for some folk, I know that. Let us know when your appointment is and we will support you as best we can. There are some lovely people in this world and many of them hang around the forums! DD

It's weird really because I'm brilliant on paper. Had lots of things
published in papers but just not good at face to face stuff.
Should do something about it I suppose but we manage.
I've found this site and the stroke association site really really help-don't think I would have got through the last 3 years without them.
    Thank you all for everything.
    take care of yourselves always.
will post when i see new quack (sorry Doctor):wink:

One gets into a habit daylily - you are used to the pattern and rhythm of your life and why add to the stress? You are dealing with enough. Why not go to the doc and hand him a letter? Then he can read and answer, either in proper doc scrawl or verbally. Just a thought. DD

Hi Daylily, sounds like the old doc was the one with issues ... He should be able to deal with information however you wish to present it - written or spoken. I hope the new doc is much more understanding.

I think you should try DD's suggestion on the new doc, practise a little speech about how you find it hard at appointments to say what you need to say/that your mind goes blank and so you have written it down. Present him with bullet points and keep it as too the point as possible.

I have had OA since mid twenties. It affects my hips and knees. I had a THR on the left aged 30 and now have a resurface-replacement on the right - done May 2010.
