Hi

I liked this story in the paper today.

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-1308324/Hero-great-grandmother-defeats-supermarket-mugger-stole-purse.html

I noticed that the lady in the story has OA, but that wasn't going to stop her :!: :D She was very brave.

Quote: Mrs Walter, who suffers from osteoarthritis, said she just followed her instincts when the thief struck.

'I saw red when I saw this man stealing my purse,' she added. 'I charged at him and pushed him against the wall - he didn't offer any resistance.

'Before I knew it I had him by the lapels and was screaming at him.

That'll teach him not to mess with Arthur!!

Joan :D

OOpps he he They made a big mistake going to that lady she must have been in pain by the looks of her hands.

Well done I say, some pensioners have still got it in them to stick up for themselves.

    Be they felt daft afterwards.

    Love Trish xx

I love the thought of a 77 year old woman with arthritis pinning a young thug up against the wall :!:  She was obviously so angry that she found strength from somewhere. It made me laugh that she said: 'Apparently I called him a b******. I don't usually swear but in the pressure of the situation I snapped.'

Apparently, the woman was targeted by the thug while standing behind her in Waitrose. The Police said that many elderly people had been attacked in this way. Quote:

Many have been the victim of distraction crimes, with the thugs often asking for their victims' help with directions.

The police spokesman said: 'These cynical and calculating criminals rely on the goodwill of their elderly victims being prepared to help a stranger find their way only for them to callously cause them great personal distress by distracting them and taking cash, cards and personal belongings.'

It's a sad state of affairs when elderly people are being mugged in this way, but on this occasion, the thief took on more than he bargained for :!: :D

    hi joan

i love the title of your post.

just shows you dont matter what wrong with you sometimes you find the strength from somewhere she did, well done to her, i starting to if you like look at things this way, the pain i suffer at the hands of arthur needs sometimes to be harnised and used in a postive way and as i have done this week when i had to phone someone on my sons behalf, and shall we just say they were in no doubt about how i had felt by the time i had finished.

just goes to show us athur sufferers are not to be messed with :lol::lol:

She looks really good for her age Joan :)

Shame we cant all stand up to them - that'd see 'em off permanently.

    Love
