I thought when I started humira (my third anti TNF) that if it proved to be successful I would be able to drop some of the other stuff, like my consultant said (fair play to her, she didn't promise but she did drop an almighty hint). No such luck. It has been effective, but I am still on meth, naproxen, sulpha and steroids. Anti TNFs are not silver bullets: around here (where I live) you have to have tried and failed everything else before they put you on one. The time that wastes. Grrrrrrrr. Oh for a few hundred thousand in the bank! DD

    Hi Sally :D

Hopefully your consultant rheummy and the biologics nurse will together discuss what the next treatment is for you.

Success or failure of ant tnfs varies considerably and I had a good 4yrs on Humira before it stopped being effective.... not because the drug failed but because my body started producing antibodies that halted it in it's tracks . (how wonderful the human immune system is )

I've just started on Infliximab and am hoping for a good result from this ant tnf.

I think that's all any of us can do.... think positive and hope for the right treatment and be prepared to move onto the next one! arther is a very slippery customer!

It's maybe worth you knowing (and thinking about) that the rheummy's like the anti tnfs to be taken in combination with Mtx as it's proven to be more effective when taken together.

Fingers are still crossed for you Sally that you soon feel well again.

    Hi Sally

Hope you are continuing to improve with regards to the infection..

This drug issue is a real dilemma - I am haivng to think about increasing mtx or going on to something else too - I'm really 'dithering' about what to do..

    Best wishes

    Hi Sally,

You really are going through a rough time! Fingers crossed whatever they put you on next works better than the mtx.
