HI I'm just back from having my sactro illiac Joints (the bottom of the spine), put through the MRC scanner. The girl who did the scan said they would be sending me a clinic appointment to discuss the scan.
Guess what? Now I'm worried if it is a good thing to be called back or not. She justa asked if I had another clinic appointment and when I said no, she said 'they'll send you one through'. Me being me, didn't ask what that meant!!! Nothing much, I suppose, and my neck is the most painful thing at the moment.
The scan was much nicer than last time, I had music, which I could choose and they made the metel convayor belt as comfortable as possible, with pillows and blankets etc. I closed my eyes and just relaxed as much as possible. The noise of he machine was much less this time with ear protection that didn't fall off! Love Sue

Hi Sue
It's good to hear your scan this time was better!
You need to have a follow up appointment at the clinic so that they can give you the scan results.... it's not sinister in any way, just part of the process.
Please let us know the outcome?
((((hugs))))

Hi, Of course I'll let you know. Part of the my reason for wishing not to go back to the clinic is the rather disinterested and rude consultant that I saw. The other part is paranioa, of a stort of strange sort. It they say its fine I'll feel like a fraud, but if they say its not fine, then I'll worry!!!  You just can't win with some people, and I'm one of them!!!!
Glad thats been done anyway. It is really good to find out what is and isn't working the way it should and then doing something about it, rather than wandering about moaning and groaning and getting know-where!!!

HI Sue, glad the MRI experience was an improvement on last time. Look on an appointment for getting the results as a good thing - at least you will be able to ask questions etc Also, if it proves positive you (and the medics) will know what you are dealing with and if it is negative (rather than feeling a fraud) it just means that that avenue of enquiry lead no where and they will have to investigate further ... Either way better to know than be in the dark.

dorcas has hit the nail on the head, as usual. It's nothing to fret about, it's good that they want to go thro it with you, and it will give you a chance to ask any questions you might have. I'm glad it was more comfortable for you this time. I'm amazed it was done on a Sunday. Our local hospital shuts up shop for humans at week-ends. They did propose using their state-of-the-art scanners for domestic pets on Saturdays and Sundays, to raise 'much needed' revenue for the hospital. There was outrage and the plan was dropped. You are a human and in pain? You will have to wait for eight weeks, but bring Fido in on Sunday. Yeah, right! DDHave you got the despatches? No, I always walk like this. Eddie Braben0

scans are such a worry but having so many the past few years I've got used to it , although my last one was my neck and head and I kept swollowing hard she kept saying relax, but what happens then , you have to swollow again and again had to have the neck brace on with the head phones clamped to my head listening to 80s music my ears were so sore, my one big tip is close your eyes as the tops so close to your face it makes you feel panicky, got 2 scans this week a relaxed heart scan tues then a stressed heart scan thurs, wonder if I can listen to my ipod with Bon Jovi on0

Hi Sue,
I am glad you had a better scan this time and am sure its just to get the results that they are asking you to go back and see them. I really hope you get a decent person when you go back and they will be able to help you at last. Luv Cris xx0 -
hI thanks for the supportive replies. Lavenderlady, I hope all goes well for you, with your scans.
I know I have to go back really, but the last consultant I saw was YUK...but he did order the scan, so just a personallity clash, I think! Love Sue0 -
Hi Sue, seems the hospitals get behind and have to play cahtch up my MRI was in the evening. Try not to worry you need a diagnosis so that you know what you have to deal with I think knowing what the problem is is alway's better than not.
Lavenderlady - you have to be still, yuo can't possibly be still with Bon-Jovi.0 -
Yes they are doing them at all hours now aren't they??
Saturdays included and even sundays over here :!:
Good luck Sue - dont forget to let us know when your apt is
Love

Hi, our hospital always uses the MRC out of hours and at weekends, I think. The x-ray department is open late in the evenings, but not at weekends. It makes sense of useing state of the art equipemnt as much as possible and our hospital is a big new one that covers a large area. I think its great to get maximum use from the machines, instead of having them sitting idol for large part of the time. I think in the week, they may have sent me across to make the appointment, but of course the rheumy clinic is shut on a weekend, so the'll post an appointment. I had hoped they would send it to my GP but, that silly!
I just didn't like the consultant who sent me, he treated me like an idiot and I wish I could see someone else, still with luck I may get his registrar. I've seen her before and she is not so superor, but just gives you the information. So heres hoping! and we can't get on with everyone, it may just have been a bad day for both of us!!! :shock:0 -
Your last comment had more than a grain of truth! Personality is important but it's not the be-all and end-all. If the doc and patient both have off days together then it is all doomed to failure! Rheumatology is one of the few hospital departments where the staff get to know their patients really well, and vice versa. DDHave you got the despatches? No, I always walk like this. Eddie Braben0
