Hi, Just looking through some posts and saw cycling as an exercise for knee pain. So thought I would pass on my experience of it, cycling sort of. I had my TKR just over 2 years ago and had lots of physio. Knee still not too good but I could still get about. Anyway several months ago we took grandson out for the day on a bus( a treat for modern youngsters). We went to place with crazy golf, adventure play area and a boating lake. On this lake they have peddaloes- little boats that you peddle. Paid our money got aboard and the attendant pushed us off from the side. 4 year old in front with me and peddles and granny in back without peddles. Now the problem was , grandson's legs are too short to reach peddles and Grampy's new knee wont bend enough to allow him to peddle. Just about to send up distress rockets etc when I realised that if I sat on back of seat I could just bend leg enough to turn peddle over. Was I glad to get back to dry land. After that even crazy golf was fun.

Crazy golf was always fun! Pedalos tho? Not sure about them, I don't like water! I'm glad you made it back to dry land without incident. DDHave you got the despatches? No, I always walk like this. Eddie Braben0

Hi,
been there with the pedaloes and a dodgy hip instead of a knee ... S - young boy with autism, only just learning to pedal and finding it easier to pedal backwards than forwards (also loves water and constantly leaning right over to touch it) and me realising that one leg is finding pedalling "challenging" - like you we survived and didn't end up swimming to shore!
Have you tried an exercise bike with the seat set up high?
SpeedyI have had OA since mid twenties. It affects my hips and knees. I had a THR on the left aged 30 and now have a resurface-replacement on the right - done May 2010.0 -
