is it just me or does the wet and cold weather make arthur protest loudly, im finding my hands and neck unbearable today, wasnt sure if the cold and damp had anything to do with it or not.
does anyone else suffer more in the cold and damp? im still getting used to having arther as a unwelcome lodger.

Hi Coco - it affects me - I hate the damp and especially the cold. My joint hurt and my muscles tense up which doesn't help either ... I wish I could hibernate all winter long!!
SpeedyI have had OA since mid twenties. It affects my hips and knees. I had a THR on the left aged 30 and now have a resurface-replacement on the right - done May 2010.0 -
ummmm hybernation oh the thoughts.......tucked up warm and snug, months of uninteruped sleep and a pain free diet. heaven. i just luv that idea if only it was possible.0

I don't just hate the cold weather, I fear it! Wet I can deal with, but a cold wind or frost and I do hibernate. I'm desperate for warmer weather come Jan 1st every year.

I'm the same too, I am absolutley dreading the thought of another winter Really hoping and praying that this one maight be a bit easier now I'm 7 weeks into Methotrexate xx0

Me too :x
Hate the cold... wet I can handle too but not the cold/frost.
Doesnt help when my hubby cannot sleep when he's warm and opens the window.... and I cant sleep when its cold so I close it... like a pair of frikkin yoyo's all evening LOL0 -
Hi Coco,
I asked a similar qu a few weeks ago when the weather first changed, and I can say with certaintity, I felt better this morning before the rain came down.
This will be my first winter with RA and not looking forward to it. Dippy DooDah, I feel your pain, I am in exactly the same boat. I have started wearing fingerless gloves to bed in the home of waking up in slightly less stiff hands.
Here's to a mild winter.

hi rachelj,
sorry i didnt see your post i wasnt on here at the time. i hope you are ok, i like the idea of the fingerless gloves, i think i will try it. im praying for a milder winter than last year, our house is so cold we had ice on the inside of the windows and we all ended up sleeping in the front room so i could heat one room properly. dont fancy doing that again. i might see if i can get one of those snuggle blankets, a bit like an oversized poncho0 -
I often can tell when its going to rain just by how my joints feel often winning over the tvs weather forecast, they ache like hell and my muscles seem to spasm up, making my nerve pain really take hold, my back starts aching really bad and my fingers and toes wont bend far but I feel worse in the heat my breathing gets more laboured and everything feels very tender to touch so I can't win either way, when rain or cold I wear warm clothing inc gloves in doors keeping my fingers and toes warm really helps0

Thanks for the warning, now I know what I have to look forward to.0

Please please let us have a better winter than last year
That was dreadful and it went on and on and on
Love

I get much much worse with the colder and damper weather. I've managed without my walking stick all summer and just know I will need it come the depths of winter.
Everything aches more and my joints just moan like crazy. I have some wonderful sock slippers that look really daft, but keep me warm, soft on my feet, and up to my shins, so keeps my ankles snug too, and I also wear fingerless gloves inside, ones with grip on the inside and when I'm feeling really rough, I'll even stick a scarf round my neck.
My heating just doesn't get up the volcanic temperatures I need to be comfortable!
So yes, it affects me very much! Winter should be banned (except for one day at Christmas).

It must be an OA thing: I have no difference in symptoms in the cold or the heat. Last winter was unusual, and unlikely to be repeated in the near future, according to a report I read last week somewhere. It was the result of the collision of two weather fronts that don't usually meet, and it's unlikely to happen again soon. Back to grey murk, drizzle, damp and gloom. Yippee. Summer all over again in other words, but with less daylight. DDHave you got the despatches? No, I always walk like this. Eddie Braben0

Hi
Yes the weather affects me too.
I am thinking of purchasing a heated body warmer this year as even with loads of layers that cold still gets through.
has anyone else got one ? are they any good ?

When it comes to health and ops I think that's a fairly common experience: last-minute cancellations are not unheard of here either! Please let us know when it is supposed to happen - thinking of you. DDHave you got the despatches? No, I always walk like this. Eddie Braben0
