Can't believe I have another streaming cold! :(

It's only just over a month since the last one! Am wondering if I should ask for a flu jab - I know that won't stop me getting more colds, but I really don't want to be floored with the flu as well.

Any other sulpha peeps getting continuous colds? Having 3 kids and all the germs they bring home from school every day doesn't help either!

    Hi Lois,

I had one the whole time I was on the sulfa and one of the reasons I stopped taking it. Its not easy to advise oer the flu jab cus I didn't have them last year and have this (possible miss guided) thing about messing with natural immunity.....

I really hope you find the cold goes and will see what the others think about the flu jab as well I got a permanent cold now on the mtx and it might help to have the jabs.....

Nice to see you and hope your ok? Leaving ((( )))'s for you and carrots to Nevile Cris xx

I've had one or two sniffles on sulpha (I've been on it since 2002) but nothing like you describe. I do have an annual flu jab, so I think it's worth your while either having one at the docs or, if they won't let you, getting one done at Boots or wherever. That would be a few pounds well spent. DD
Have you got the despatches? No, I always walk like this. Eddie Braben

    Hi Lois,

I suffer from asthma so any cold is a disaster for me, as it always seems to hit my chest. The past 2 winters I have managed to avoid a horrid cold as I have been taking echinacea. I don't take it all the time, I just start taking it when the OH starts showing signs of coming down with a cold, and it seems to either keep it away or at least lessen its severity.

I am a bit of a cynic when it comes to alternative/herbal remedies, but so far not had any reason to doubt the benefits of echinacea. I assume the helpline can advise if its OK to take with your other meds as I know there are some things you have to avoid.

I hope you get a little more time to rest now the kids are back at school, just a shame they come home with icky germs!

    Rach.

    Hi Lois
Sorry to hear about your cold. It's bad enough dealing with arthur or a cold but both together just makes you feel so low. Luckily since I was diagnosed 5 years ago I haven't had too many colds, due to vitamin C, zinc and echinacea, but the winter when I was on sulpha I had 5, so I think you're on to something there. Glad I don't take it any more as it never really suited me. Perhaps you could change to something else to see if that helps, do you have a rheumy who would be amenable to listening if you explained it? Maybe it's worth a try, after all we are the ones who have to try to manage.
    Hope you feel better soon
