Any idea's on getting a nice firm tum without hurting my back and neck?? I always have good intentions and start off doing some, then I suffer and don't do them again for weeks! My tum is still wobbly and I don't like it! :x xxx

It's a problem isn't it? finding the right exercise while not putting pressure on other areas.

hopefully someone will come up with some ideas for you.

    Hi Kerry,

I can't be of much help but might be able to point you in the right direction. I am not sure how mobile you are but of my many hours on the physio's table staring at the posters on the wall I do remember an exercise called the "reverse ab curl" which exercises the same muscles as a sit up, but you lie on your back and lift your legs instead. I am sure youtube will have a video to help you on how to do it. Remember sit ups shoudn't use your back, just your stomach muscles so you might just need to tweak your current technique, and take it easy!

    Hi Kerry,

I do sit-ups on the bed.

Start gently by putting your head on the pillow and just do about 10, then gradually increase the number daily. If it hurts stop. Try it without the pillow.

I do 50 daily and feel it's helped strengthen my back and stomach muscles ...not sure it's helped with the wobbly bits though.

If you bounce down hard enough it propels you back up again :lol::lol:

If you have a bad back I would check with your GP though before trying.

    Hope this helps.

I love that idea, my neck is a no go for normal sit ups, so that sounds ace! Especially the bit where you bounce back up again.....

Huge knickers that suck everything in. Bridget Jones' with attitude. A lovely firm tum with no effort involved. One downside tho - they are hard work to pull on and peel off. DD
