Embarrassed to say I am now suffering from very painful sinuses - after my chest infection, cold and everything else! One side of my face is very sore, my teeth hurt like mad and I've got a pounding headache. Worse to lie down. I am already on antibiotics and steroids. Am steaming, taking Flixonaise, paracetamol and drinking lots. Any other tips for getting rid of this problem greatly appreciated.

No news from the consultant today about my Mtx but there is a tube strike in London so guess he or the nurses may not have made it into work. Although am in a lot of pain I feel mentally a bit better - felt so odd last night but it was probably the sinus thing.

hope you all well.
xx

    Ouch  :(

so sorry to read of yet more for you to deal with.

I think you are doing most of what can be done .... but My GP did suggest to me that using Olbas oil (just a few drops on a tissue which I pop next to my bed) to inhale before bed and during the night can help.

be warned it is an aquired fragrance, but it doesn't interfere with most meds that I take, was OK with MTX for me, but of course you'd best check with your pharmacist just in case you take different meds

hope things pick up for you soon

Probably not allowed a decongestant like m*cron or s*nutab??

I find them really helpful in your situation....think best to check with Pharmacist??

Wonky's idea is good too - olbas is totally ok with all meds as far as I know :)

Hope you feel better soon Sal :(

    Love

Try Sterim@r.........it's a saline solution only, but works well for me and I have chronic sinus problems. It is rather expensive, but I'm unable to take decongestants. I found it a couple of years ago and swear by it.

Only adding to Wonkies comments about the olbas oil thing, I put my in an oil burner during the day near where I sit, yes it stinks the house out but masks the smell of dog :-) If you don't like the smell of olbas ask the pharmacist for some menthol crystals to dissolve hot water to shove your head over.

They also do an Olbas bubble bath type thing, so you can sooth your aching bones and clear your sinuses out a the same time.

Brilliant, forgotten about some of the suggestions and will try and get some tomorrow. I have got O-b-s oil and have been using it. Gave in and took painkillers this afternoon which helped too. You'll all be relieved to hear I am feeling a lot more chipper this evening so must be on the mend. Let's hope this is the end of my woes for a bit :)
    Thanks.

Painkillers are useful things: don't deny yourself of their pleasures too much. Stoicism is admirable but can easily become masochism! I hope you have a better night. DD

Believe me DD, I am neither stoical or masochistic - just trying to protect my liver a little bit!
Annie, thanks for reminding me about that product, I used it years ago and it is very good.

    Hi Sally,

Just wanted to ask if you are still feeling a little better today.

How are you after the crash? Is your car alright to drive?

Thanks I and DD, I am much better today thanks. Got a bit of whiplash from the accident even though it wasn't a bad one. Just heard from my insurance that they are sending me for physio, which is great.

    how are you all today?

I was also going to suggest head over a bowl, I have a friend who suffers terribly with sinus and she does the head over a bowlwith oils in it.
