Personal MTX update

As a former sulphasalazine user that was allowed to stop a few years ago I was started on MTX in early July after a flare.

Delighted to say I am now noticing a difference and have been able to cut my cut my anti inflmas and pain killer usage in half if not more.

Blood tests have also been fine with inflamation levels back to normal. Liver function also normal despite still enjoying a sherbert or two. Within moderation of course

Whilst realising it could all go t... up and that MTX doesn't work for everyone I hope this report will give some others encouragement, if recommended and considering this drug, which does get some pretty bad internet press, so to speak.

Side effects have been pretty minimal and more or less restricted to sleepiness 48 hours after taking.

Hope as many as possible are having a pain free day. :)

P.S

I ain't gloating folks just trying to give some encouragement.

W

Great to hear it's working so well - and I don't think you're gloating at all, in fact I wish more folks would post when things are going well, but I suppose they're just getting on with other things in life.

I know when I first joined, I paniced a bit and had to remind myself of the fact that most people post when they are in pain, and in need of advice.

Hope things continue to go well, William.

I am similar to you- bloods normal, 48 hours sleepiness but also nausea and headaches.

I am still taking the sulfa as well as MTX though.

Glad to read you feel better William,

What lovely news, William: I know that meth does work for some and you seem to be one of those lucky few. Let's hope it continues! Are you well in yourself generally? DD

Hi DD. Yes I am well thanks. Since having to retire from the footie I have taken to swimming a few times a week as well as walking the dog and feeling the benifit.

    How are you?

Good for you. Keeping active will stave off further damage and keep you healthy. I used to swim etc but found tht my knees ballooned so much after I was immobile for 48 hours or so - pointless! We will have to resurrect the footie thread on chitchat every Monday until the end of the season. ITFC are doing disgustingly well (compared to this time last year). I hope the same applies to your gang. Well done on the international last night - a very late winner! DD

    Yes we shall.

Very much a late one last night.

As an aside my youngest son and I are travelling down to the so called theatre of dreams next week for the champions league match against the mancs.

Herding us in and out like cattle as punishment for a minorities behaviour at the UEFA cup final 2 years ago :(

    Keep well x

Hi William, good to hear that meth is working out for you - long may it continue.

Glad you are enjoying the swimming and I bet the dogs are pleased that you are walking them too.

Not a footie fan myself, but enjoy.

I have had OA since mid twenties. It affects my hips and knees. I had a THR on the left aged 30 and now have a resurface-replacement on the right - done May 2010.

Hi William - just wanted to say how pleased I am for you that the meth is working with few side effects. Long may it continue!

I am sure your post will give much needed encouragement to others - me included because I am just about to start meth for the second time after many years break and I am a tad nervous to say the least!

Really, really hope that things continue to improve for you.
