Just to bring your attention that fake E-mails and phone calls are doing the rounds at the moment linked to the recent rebates and tax demands from the Inland Revenue. So if you get asked for any financial details via the above two methods please ignore it.

I know you are not stupid peeps but just thought I'd remind you to be careful!

Hello Sylvia, I wondered where you had been as havent seen you for a while.
I haven't been targeted and not everyone is due a tax rebate/demand but have read warnings on financial websites.

    Take care

So it's not only me who can't get through to the tax credit (not so helpful) helpline. Are you also being cut off every time you phone? I'm starting to wonder if there's a fault on their answering system as I've been trying to get through for over a week now. Stupid thing is, if we don't inform them of any changes we're in the wrong despite their service being impossible to access. :x

I had a phone call from some one on the sub-continent yesterday informing me that I was owed £800 because of bank overcharges  Here we go I thought,, the caller wanted to know my name . bank address, date of birth etc, to transfer the money back to me. which I gave him,
I am now 22 my name is Herbert K Terdburgler and I bank with Manx Bank on the Isle of Man at the end of the convo he thanked me said that the cheque would be in my account shortly, I thanked him and then called him a thick, stupid *##" etc etc.. oh how I larfed when I put the phone down...

A couple of hours later, an Asian lady called me and stated that she was from the Fraud Department of my bank and there had been some unusual activity with my credit card, she then wanted to go through my bank security checks to confirm my identity.. steam was coming from my ears.. so no mucking around, I gave her both barrells of all the Anglo Saxon expletives that 25 years in the military had honed into a fine art!!!!
There was a stunned silence at the end of the phone... a small voice said, " You can ring us direct at the bank if you wish to confirm this call"....................

I phoned my bank......oiperator went through the authentication details then asked how he could help... I stated that I had just received a scam phone call from a fraud department and I was just informing them....silence....
He then stated that indeed the Fraud Department had been trying to contact me..  'oh ****'!.. He then transferred me to the Fraud Department......Guess what? the lady on the phone was the same person I had just abused mightily!!!!!OMG was I embarrassed or what? I apologised profusely on my knees, begging forgiveness...I explained the reason why I had been so abusive she said she understood etc.. but I think she has constructed a voodoo doll cause my bones hurt more than usual today.....'Oh hum'

Well you're not to know. But who had been trying to use your credit card I wonder.

This is why I only own a bank cash card, and pay for everything in cash where practical, as I trust no-one these days. We even had a scam at our local petrol station where an employee had rigged up a way to see people's pin numbers and copied their card numbers and stole money.

They will try anything these days won't they!

I only use cash points inside banks for that very reason. I figure that cloning devices are unlikely to be fitted to those. So far, so good. DD

That is very efficient of your bank to notice your unusual transactions.
Dementia and Fat Kev are being very efficient too, hopefully they are just watching the paint dry,
