My THR didn`t do anything to scanners. I was a bit disappointed!! I think it is a bit hit and miss as to whether anything bleeps etc..

    Hi

Like toni said if you have no metal you should be ok.

Otherwise just mention it to the airport staff before you enter the scan.

I was in my wheelchair as i cant walk very well or far and have a prosthetic leg.(which is metal inside) I told the staff and they didnt take me through the scanner instead they pushed me round it then scanned me with a hand held device and frisked me (gently so not to hurt)

I do sometimes set the alarms off in shops for some reason and thats only entering :lol: can be quite embarassing, dont know why that happens, i am not bar coded :lol:

Think it depends on the actual airport and how sensitively is it programmed.....
My dad says sometimes he beeps as he has TKR & THR but he doesnt beep all the time...he always tells them its his gammy leg/hip...!

Going out at Manchester I didnt walk through but they scanned me with the wand that was ok, when I was in Majorca I walked through and it went off I told the lady that I had a Hip Replacement and she just waved me through.
You can get a ortho card, I think maybe you have to buy it, when I asked the joint nurse at the hospital she had never heard about it but I found the link for it on the NHS website.
