Hi everyone
just joined these forums, i'm a 55 yr old male living in Scotland.
have had palindromic RA for 23 yrs but three yrs ago it developed into full blown RA.
Have a strong family history of RA and thought I would join for help and advice.
Look forward to hearing how everyone copes with their particular problems.
George

Hello and welcome. We are a knowledgeable lot with a fiar sprinkling of Scots amongst our number. I am just off to bed now after an exhausting day of doing not very much - I'll reply properly tomorrow. DD

Hello again geo51, I hope you have passed a reasonable day. Full-blown RA ain't fun for anyone, what meds have they put you on and are they having any effect? How do you cope with the tiredness that goes with the whole shebang? If you have looked at the LWA forum you will see that that topic rears its ugly head time and time again! Are you still able to work?

I hope you have had a look round the other forums: LWA is where we do the arthritis stuff, chitchat is more general and the other ones are self-explanatory. I hope to see you posting soon - new voices are always welcome, especially male ones. Our resident blokes do feel outnumbered I think - bolster them! DD

    Hi Daisy
I take 20mg methotrexate once a week plus hydroxychloroquine and rotiglitizone and yes they do make a difference.
The tiredness is something I can't control or influence but it does affect my job ( i'm a health & safety officer) and I spend more time in the office nowadays. I'll be going to LWA as soon as I finish this post.
Thanks a lot for your posts, they are appreciated.

Oooh - I've never heard of the last one - rottywhat? it sounds like an Italian desert! I shall womanfully resist the temptation to make 'elf 'n' safety jokes: tho I do have to say that sometimes it all gets taken a little too far. One has to learn to weigh up risks and if you learn the hard way, so be it.

I am pleased to say that I, a mere girlie, outstrip you on the drugs front. I take loads more but I think only two really have any effect, the humira and the oral steroids. I love my oral steroids and I care not a jot about their side-effects. I used to, but now I really cannot be bothered - they make me 'feel' better so that is what counts in my book. Plkease have a look round - if LWA is a little daunting, join in on chitchat to test the waters! You take care, I hope you get some decent sleep tonight, chat tomorrow maybe. DD
