Hello everyone!
Just wondered if anyone else has tried this virtual world? I have been there then lost interest for a while & am now back into it again. What I love about it is my avatar is 24 years old & as fit as a fiddle! In other words, no pain, so can fly, run, dance get out & about & meet others all over the world! Escapism? Yes, & some of you reading this will probably write me off as a weird nerd but I just thought I'd find out if anyone here has tried it. I have met many avatars there who in their first life have so many different kinds of disabilities. Some are bedridden for instance but they actual host live DJ events & make many friends on their 'second life'!
Oh well, I have totally outed myself as mega-nerd now so will crawl back into my computer room!
Maybe someone here is interested though? Lol!

    Hi Pennie,

Just said on the other forum how nice it is to see you :D

Never tried it.... kinda weary of it cus I am probably too naive to do it and also its been used for divorces in real life so I kinda stay weary of it.

Saying that I love the sims......  :lol:

escapism I all for... do it a lot by escaping into the junk in my head and would never dream of telling someone not to do a bit of escapism so you do what you enjoy.

Tis so nice to see you. ((( ))) Cris x

    Hi Pennie

I don't think you're a nerd! But I am quite geeky myself so my opinion probably doesn't count :D

I've never been on Second Life but from what you say, it sounds like a good form of escapism and meeting new friends. I'm all for meeting new people and if you physically can't do that in reality, then what's wrong with doing it online? It's not harming anyone? I've also heard the stories of it causing divorces - that's very sad...

Never tried it and never will. My first life is interesting and challenging enough - why have a fake second life? I'm not sure what that would achieve. I suppose if you do not like your reality then escape into fakery is an option but what do you lose from the real world? DD

    Hi Pennie,

Lovely to see you posting :) Have not tried it but just had a look to see what it is about. Atm I have far to much to do and think about :) and am not on here as much as I would like, sometimes. It is good to know that it is out there and that many people belong and enjoy Second World. It is more than likely a life-saver for some, where, otherwise, time may hang heavy.

Thank you for letting us know about it, Pennie. As you say, you can drift in and out of Second World, no problem. :) Just like you can drift in and out of here and other sites too.

Hope you are ok and that today shall be a good one for you,

    Love and hugs
    Elna x

DD - but you do seem to use this forum as much as the rest of us so perhaps you need online contact more than your post boasts!

    Hi Cris!
It is lovely to hear from you too! I know have been away a long time for various reasons but missed you all & Elna suggested trying the chit chat forum.
Yes there has been the usual negative Daily (Hate)Mail press about Second Life but to be honest, if someone was looking for affairs outside marriage they would be more likely to do it in Real Life and there are plenty of other online forums/chat rooms where that could happen too!
I will try & gradually catch up with you all over the next few weeks & it is so nice to know you have not forgotten me & are posting such lovely things.

Hi Val, nina, del, baby, elna, rehab, toni & mell!
Hope i haven't left anyone out! All I do there is chat, dress up & try & build stuff - no naughtys I'm afraid! This forum makes me blush sometimes so that's enough for me!!
I used to work in graphic design so love anything artistic & I was so excited when I made my first virtual skirt!
I do know some who go to the naughty places though, rehab, & I'm sure I could introduce you too!!!
It is so lovely to hear from you all again & I hope I won't be missing for so long again

    Hi Penny :)

I had a look at Second Life a few years ago with my old boss and we tried to make an avatar - couldn't really get the hang of it but it is an interesting idea.

From what I gather is it sort of like a forum but with avatars being able to move from space to space much like we go from thread to thread??

And to do extra activities you pay with real money and get given second life money to spend in the areas?

I read somewhere that well known brands have set up 'shop' in Second Life and sell their wears and there have also been world first releases of music etc....

    A x

That's true, penfactor, I do, but then you is all real people. And a fascinating bunch of people we are too. I just prefer real people to pretend ones. And even tho my life ain't up to much (nowhere near what it should be for a woman of my comparatively 'young' years) it is still better than something fake. We're all different, we all like different things, thought I'd get that in quick! DD

@DD - Perhaps you didn't read my original post fully or did not read between the lines. I am real & so are the people with disabilities who use it. I think, also that in your former post you were saying your life was so full & interesting you had no time for anything else & I was merely pointing out that you had plenty of time to participate here!
You also insinuated that I must be a very sad person & fake.
Perhaps it would have kinder of you not to comment on my post as you had no interest in it.

    @Colly & Gicky
Absolutely! The computer graphics & artistic side &, as I said before, the media for people with disabilities to participate is immense & far out weighs the tabloid press view who, after all, only report on anything from a seedy & negative point of view!

Oh dear, penfactor, did I really insinuate that? That certainly was not my intention - if I had meant that I would have said it. Everyone is different, we all need different things. When should or shouldn't one read between the lines? How about just reading the lines - I didn't say my life was 'full and interesting', I only used 'interesting'. You said you liked having a second life and asked for thoughts, or so I thought. I gave mine. Whadda mistaka to maka. DD

Not everyone's requirements are met on here, as said earlier, that is why some people post and then "disappear". There may be various reasons why this happens but it most certainly does. I have been on this forum long enough to have seen this and have been very sorry to see some lovely people leave after they have been on here quite some time. Some just keep in touch by Private Message now. Pennie is well liked on here, many of us have missed her greatly and I only hope that she can rise above certain comments on her thread and stays with us.

i dont think there is anything wrong in these interactive games, how many people play farmville etc or games on the playst**ion/*box on line and no one gives them a hard time. if its something they they enjoy and helps pass the time then go for it im in no position to judge and wont be judging anyone. were all different and like different things, accepting those differances makes for a nicer world. it would be a very boring world if we all liked /did the same thing now wouldnt it.
