    Hi Wendy

I have no experience of this procedure, but I hope someone will be along soon who knows about it..

I will be watching this thread with interest, as I also have OA in that area (both thumbs) but mine is not as bad as yours..

    Best wishes

    Hi Wendygro,

I have no experience of this type of op, hopefully there will be someone out there in cyber space who has.

Has the ortho said what sort of movement you would achieve after this op and if it would relieve pain levels?

I would have thought that a replacement would be preferable to it fusing and being useless, if then painless...

I have had OA since mid twenties. It affects my hips and knees. I had a THR on the left aged 30 and now have a resurface-replacement on the right - done May 2010.

    Hi Wendygro
I am waiting for hand surgery slightly different though!
Dorcas/Iris is a mine of information on things like this I'm sure she will spot your post soon!

However my friend had this problem and had work done with the ligaments etc. (with the same surgeon I am seeing) The recovery time is about 10 weeks but she has had no problems since ....that was over 5 years ago!

    Hi wendy

Just want to offer my support to yo.

Questions - are you in pain wioth it - will op help with pain?

    Will it give back felxibility?

Think i would ask myself these questions and weigh it all up.

As you know Dorcas(Iris) has had some ops so should be along soon to help more

Will be interested to see what you decide.

    Love

    Toni xx
