hi ev1
been to see my GP today and he has gone through my notes to pin point what is going on with me....GP was very understanding when i told him of my rheumy appointment being a total dissapointment...GP reckons my sudden onset of pain all stems from a serious viral infection i had in february...he said judging from my notes i could of had epstein barr virus...well to cut this short he has come to the conclusion that i have;; cronic arthralgia...fibromyalgia....mild lupus and something we had not considered psoriatic arthritis...because of my psoriasis flares on my elbows(mainly left one) knees and fingers....and carpel tunnel syndrome....phewww no wonder I have been so much in pain...Ive been unable to walk today my right ankle and heal have been so painful and feel the 1st 2 fingers on my left hand are broken..GP is going to refer me to a different rheumy...he has put me on Lyrica 100mg 3 times a day to increase after 7 days plus I have to carry on with the tramadol and co-codamol when needed....I feel abit better now that Ive had some possitive answers ,,,Ive still got my test results to come back from tuesday at the hozy and GP said we still have a way to go yet with test and meds but at least I have had some answers....I have appointment with physio in october...As anyone else had Lyrica??? ((((hugs)))) and well wishes to u all...Ailsa..x.. :)

    Hi Ailsa :)

My goodness, that is some diagnosis. No wonder you have been feeling poorly and in so much pain and I am very sorry to hear that. Shame the rheumi you saw was not at all helpful. Sounds like your gp has come up trumps and taken you under his wing which is reassuring and let's hope that this new rheumi will be much more attentive and helpful. I cannot comment on the med you mention because I have never been prescribed that drug.

I do hope that you begin to feel a little better very soon. Along with your other problems/upset, you certainly have a lot on your plate at the moment. Please keep calling in and let us know how you are going on.

    Luv
    Elna x

    Hi ailsa!

so glad your doc was so understanding and helpful. :D not many around who would sit and go through your notes to pinpoint what and when these arther symptoms started.

a lot to take in from what he said... but re-assuring too that he is completely supportive and great that he has referred you to a different rheummy. :D ... so maybe those notes you took with you will come in useful after all.

I have PA but not been on lyrica either.... but there are definitely peeps around who have .. and will be able chat about it with you.

have a lovely day aisla... and even if you still have pain at least you now know you're on the way to getting a proper diagnosis and meds.

    (((hugs)))

It might seem a strange thing to say but I reckon things are on the up for you for the time being. You are at last getting some answers to your questions: they might not be the ones you want (!) but at least they are answers and treatments can begin. I hope you begin to feel better soon ailsarobby - that would be a good thing! DD

    Hi Ailsa,

I am glad your gp took the time and has helped you like this. Its also pointing towards maybe seeing a different rumo! The last one got it wrong as this would all be in his remit!

I been on pregabalin now for oer 2 years. Its a very good drug but initially it can mess with your head. I know it did mine and its only because its so good at blocking the pain I continued with it. Take the 600 in my stride really and even after so long they still really help so I hope you find the same.

What I would say is getting to the high does isn't easy...... I was on 75 2x a day but couldn't take 150 in one hit so had the 75 3x a day and then the 150 at night till I got used to it and the same with the 300 but now the 300 doesn't send me to the tea party with the fairies .. well now and then but I always have

Good luck and let us know how you get on please. Cris x

Hi Ailsa, your GP sounds good. That was positive appointment. Hope new rheumy appointment comes through soon and the new med helps in the meantime. Rest up and give that foot and ankle a chance to recover.

I have had OA since mid twenties. It affects my hips and knees. I had a THR on the left aged 30 and now have a resurface-replacement on the right - done May 2010.
