Hi to all i have just posted this on chit chat and found this so here goes.
I am new to this site and have joined for advise and information. A little about me. I have had breast cancer and secondary in lymph gland. I have been clear for 4 years but have had terrible lower back pain and hip (pains in hands if doing too much writing or typing) Lose of strength in my arms and now my knees are joining in. I put all these conditions down to the medication i was taking but have had an xray on Thursday and have been told it is arthritis. Now waiting for a letter to be sent through to my GP for him to refer me to the specialist. Feel relieved that it is not the cancer back back really angry with my body at the moment. My bones are also loosing density due to medications, treatment and being crashed into the menopause. Sorry i really sound like i am moaning but am trying to get my head around this and what medication i am lightly to be offered. I would appreciate any help/feedback as i want to be really prepared for when i see my GP. At present the paracetamol and inbrufen is not working to stop my pain which was helping about 6 months ago. Codiene gives me really bad stomach ache and reluctant to take as i am waiting to see specialist about stomach pains. Looking forward to hearing from you. (please excuse any spelling errors...

    Hi Lupin

Im new to this forum as well, so we have a lot in common, being a Newbie that is.
I also hope to get lots of info and have a good time on this Arthritis Forum.

My late Dad always said, if there was a problem with your health, just remember love there are people who are worst of than you, and keep smiling through it all, as smiling and laughter can take a lot of the pain away :D
I have lots of questions as well, but im sure we will get answers to them all here on this forum.
Been through the cancer bit as well, but Cervical, also thrown into the Menopause stage as well, so its not just the aches and pains we have to contend with.
And with the aches and pains like you I thought it had come back, but its not, although I cant answer any of your questions about the arthritis part of things, I know we are not alone in this.
The gang on here will be fed up with me asking questions but thats what Forum friends are for.

    Regards
    Mags

    Hi Mags
I think they may get fed up with me as well. Just doing research at the moment into what treatments are available. I am not going to get pushed into treatment due to cost or will effect my quality of life. Already have side effects of one drug to deal with Aromosin so really do not want any more. I know i will have to go onto bone strengthening drugs which i have put off for two years. Only took them for a few months and they made me feel awful so decided to come off of them and wait and see what my body would do ? A risk i know but i have my bone density scan in october(this may have to be bought forward now)and fingers crossed my diet and keeping off the drink has worked. Just got to get the pain sorted now. I am very activity and walk everyday. I am on my feet most of the morning at work so i know some things i am doing right, I do have pain all the time and it varies from day to day, hour to hour. The only thing is once i sit down or try to relax that is it. Have to go to doctors and have a chat . The one good thing about this is at least i know what it is and i am not going mad. Started to wonder if it was all in my head.

We have limitless reserves of patience. The same questions get asked again and again and again, but that is simply because new people are struggling to come to terms with it all and it is a minefield/maze - choose the analogy that suits! The more you read on here, the more questions you ask and answers you get the more knowledgeable you will both become. We are a good resource. Use us. DD
Have you got the despatches? No, I always walk like this. Eddie Braben
