complete of subject here - yesterday I bought a travel kettle to replace my cumbersome, heavy old thing. It is great, light and swivels about and takes very little space on my worktop too but has good capacity of 1L (if anyone wants to know the brand I will send a pm!)I am now looking for a small toaster - mine is way to big and not very easy to use when my wrists are bad so would like to replace it. Wondered if anyone knows of such a thing. I've googled but nothing comes up. Any suggestions?

the travel kettles are a great idea ... I asked for one for Christmas and it is smashing, but it does only have a capacity of 850ml which is alright for the two of us but a bit bothersome when we have visitors

1l is a great capacity, as many are nearer 500ml which is no-where near enough for us!

as for the toaster ... to be honest I use my grill, as it is at eye level, can be slid in and out rather than lifted, and I got rid of my toaster because it was taking up too much room!

sorry not a lot of help toaster wise, but good luck on the hunt!!

    Hi Sally :D

The travel kettle sounds like a good idea. I have an 'ordinary' sized kettle but have a 'kettle tipper' which the kettle fits into. means I can use one hand and it allows the kettle to tip/ pour very easily. I also use a plastic jug when filling the kettle as it's easier and lighter on the hands.

I have just recently bought a smaller toaster... nothing special though just has an easier push down lever. can PM the make if that would be helpful?

I have a Kenwood toaster, just takes two slices of bread and quite basic but does the job. Cost just over £15.

In our caravan we have a cheaper toaster and it is much lighter than the one at home. It is a cheaper brand and bought it from well known catalogue store on high street also The supermarket A*** will probably sell them and at least you could pick it up to see how heavy it was.
    (or even Cu**r*s)

    Hope you soon fid one.

I have just brought a small slow cooker. It was £4.89 in the sale from A*gos. Well it is fantastic. Just put all the meat and veggies in it, hot stock and bit of herbs and spices. Put it on in the morning and by the evening, delicious casserole is ready. Wow it has made things in the kitchen a lot easier for me. I keep having terrible cravings for rice pudding, why I do not know as not a milky person. Only really have it in my tea. But may have to make some in it later.

Sorry - nothing to do with toasters, but another great gadget for use in kitchen. It is also quite small one so does not take up much room and not heavy to carry.

Hi, I used to have the kettle urn , saw it in the arthritis mag, but I got fed up always having lukewarm tea, so gone back to a kettle, but have to fill it with a small plastic container and its heavy to pour so might invest in a travel one .What I did invest in and is absolutely FAB, is the robo cleaner, no more hoovering,it does a great job and OH sorts it for me.
