Hi All

Thanks for all your posts when I was having problems with my stomach rash and pains. I've just got back from the hospital and they have assured me that what I have had exeperienced was just an allergic reaction and is quite normal!, I have to carry on with my injections and methotrexate as normal. She did say that at one time my injections would have stopped but it has now been proven that it best to let your body deal with the reaction and to carry on with them all my blood test were ok and she said there was nothing to worry. Must say I'm not looking forward to Thursday injection. Thankfully I do feel alot better today though.

well thats a bit of good news for you. You can still take all your meds. I hope your body soon gets used to the medication tht caused the rash and it quickly disappears.
Good that your bloods are ok too.

I won't be around on thurs for pocket duty so will say good luck now

In some ways that's good news isn't it? Is the enbrel working for you? I hope so: sometimes we just have to push thro the side effects, but only if the benefit outweighs them. I'm sure Thursday will go fine: I will try to remember to send you a good luck message! DD

    Hi

I think thats what the rheummy was saying that you just have to let your bodies immune system get use to it. Lets hope mine doesn't put up too much of a fight and just lets me get on with my injections.

I suppose its easy for the doctors to say everything is fine but its still very scary - thanks again for your messages they really helped.

That's one of the major problems with the docs - it's all theory to them, we deal with the reality! DD

Very pleased to hear that all should be ok Debs.

By your post yesterday you've helped me too :D

Eleven days after my first "double dose" injection of Cimzia (certolizumab pegol) I woke up yesterday morning with rashes the size of coffee saucers on both injection sites, eek!

Spoke to the biologics rheumy nurse this morning and he advised antihistamines and only to give myself one injection on Thursday. I'm happy with that as it's my left side wot's in fer it and I didn't fancy injecting my left thigh as I'm only 3 weeks L THR, lol.

He did say that it was most unusual to have a reaction such a long time later and he'd give the manufacturers a ring and invite their comments.

    All the very best,
    Cherry

    Hi debs,:D

Wow... things have changed haven't they :?: goes to show how medical opinion advances with experience.

I'm sure they would not leave you at any risk Debs.... but can understand though why you're bit nervous of Thursday's jab.

tell us what time you're going to do 'it' and we'll be there for sure to help you.

    Hi Cherry :D
I don't think we've met so just wanted to say hello!

You're the first person I've met who's on Cimzia. :!: how are you finding it? is it helping you?

I hope too that you get on OK with your next jab.
    when is it?

more pocket duties for us I think!

Hi Iris, thank you for your welcome, pleased to meet you :D

I chose Cimzia as the manufacturers hold out the promise that if it's going to work it will do so within 3 months or the Health Trust get their money back  So far so good, the Cimzia nurse spent almost two hours with me explaining everything. It's a bit difficult to assess any improvement as yet but I think that's because I'm so soon post op, plus I had a R TKR at the end of last year.

My next injection will be Thursday but I'll only be doing the one  (It's 400mg as 2 200mg injections for the lst, 2nd and 4th weeks and then 200 mg once a fortnight thereafter.

    I'll report progress!

    Hi Debs,

Very glad to hear your rash appears a lot better today, mine is too, not half as angry looking :D

You're quite right about the forum being such a help. Iris suggested I might post about my experiences with the Cimzia and if it's helpful to others I'll be pleased to do so.

Meanwhile keep up the good work and I'll have a little competition with you to see whose rash completely disappears first
