I think I am just a bit low health wise. Maybe the changing of the seasons. Its wet and horrible here today, YUK!

My neck is getting worse and I'm finding it hard to do things like hold the newspaper or a book or mug. I have to limit myself with reading as my eyes get sore and as its difficult to read looking through the right part of my glasses (varifolcals) . Also my typeing is rubbish now and slow, sometimes it feels as if I've got bits of glass in my finger tips!!! The ulner tunnel symptoms are back with a rengence. Numb little finger and ring finger, and hand pains in both hands. The surgion at the hand clninc said they would get worse, but as they were fine then, I didn't want more tests and he agreed it would be best to wait until/if I had problems. so I can't blame the hospital for that!

I think also, having Jerry all summer spoilt me and I am a bit down now he's back at work! I don't know how lucky I am to have a husband who is so kind and has long holidays, not too good with house work as he thinks its a waste of time, until it gets really bad, so I do that! He dosn't understand that if you do little and often it stays managable!!! Sorry, I've gone on for long enough.

Also, I'm jelous, my sister and her o/h are on a Meditoranion cruise, with nice hot sunshine. Not Fair!!! Mind you I don't like boats  Love Sue

    Hi Sue

I hope you feel better soon. Yep it is rather miserable weather today and that makes you feel worse.

Sorry to hear about your neck and hands. Have you tried wearing a neck brace and using a pillow to support your book? I have one of those trays with padding underneath and I tend to put my book on that as well as using a pillow to prop it up. It looks odd but it helps.
Rather than buy a neck brace you can make one quite cheaply. Use a triangular arm sling and newspaper. There may be instructions online (see a first aid site) and it really does support your neck and feels really comfy. I don't know what to suggest with regards to your hands - it can't be easy to do anything when your hands are painful.

Men just don't see the need for housework - like you I do my housework little and often. My husband, Carl, is very thorough and pulls out the furniture - I can't do that anymore as I haven't got the strength in my hands/arms. He does all the jobs that require any bending! It's good that you've got a caring OH and it's no wonder you miss him. We had a week's holiday last week and I missed my husband when he went back to work yesterday.

I hope you feel better soon. Can you see your GP for some help?

    With regards

    Sharmaine

Hope you feel better soon. Having to do the housework is probably a good thing. If your hubby done it all i feel it would make you feel even more down as you may feel not needed. As you say, do it little by little and as for sllow typing..................i'm slow without arthur being in my hands!

    Hugs from Carol x

SHARMAINE ......why dont you add that bit about the neck brace to the simple things to make things easier...its a sticky so it doesnt get lost. I think that would be a good one for it

    Hi Sue,

sorry you're feeling low today flower. :( the wet weather definitely doesn't help how we feel does it!

Your hands sound so sore.... when are you going back to see the surgeon? there's so much they can do now and the hand surgery is so sophisticated it might be worth you speaking to him again soon?
we are all different, I know, but surgery has helped me immensely..

For getting some relief from painful hands I use a hot wax therapy treatment at home ... suggested to me by my hand therapist at the clinic.
I bought the hot wax unit.. cost £39.99 and it has been just great for me. The hot wax is wonderfully soothing and relieves the dreadful aching arther causes for a time. If you want more details send me a PM and I'll get back to you...

I understand about the housework.. 'little and often'..is exactly what I try to do with the help of a very willing twin sister!

hope you feel a bit better soon...
    ((((hugs))))

    Hi Sue,

I'm sorry you are feeling a bit down in the dumps at the moment. It's not surprising though so try not to be too hard on yourself. September is always a funny month with schools going back and the change in the weather. It's horrible and wet here too.

Are you planning anything nice to do for the rest of the week?

Hi Sue, sorry to hear you are so down today. All I can say is that it helps me to take one day at a time. A cliche I know but it helped me these last weeks - as did all the wonderful peeps here :)
    hope you feel better soon.x

Hi Sue, sorry to hear you're having a tough time at the moment. This darker colder weather would'nt help anyones' mood but hopefully as autumn gets more colourful our spirits will lift for a little while at least before the winter.
Try to give yourself some little treats that might help. Even investing in some nice oils and warming them and giving yourself a little hand massage might help a little. I do hope things get better for you soon. Big hugs, rita. :)

Hi Thank you, I think I'm having a 'sorry for myself day' also my hands have been waking me and although I go back usualy, it stops me getting a proper nights rest. Its pouring with rain here!
I'll try resting a book, its a good idea.

    Hi Sue

Sorry that you are feeling down at the moment - but you know what - you could be seasick on a cruise instead of being at home in the rain! Now which would you prefer??

Iris (Dorcas) has mentioned the hot paraffin wax kit. I use one too and sometimes it 's the only thing that helps.

Hope you start to feel better soon.

    Take care

    Hello Sue
You poor thing, sometimes you really need a feel sorry day, I wish I could help with the pain, our iris is the expert on hands, the wax bath does sound so nice.
One thing I can say is, you have some pamper days, and leave the house work (easier said then done i know) but I have learned to do this, whats wrong with a bit of dust, and my windows, well we only clean the front  .Well most of the time :)
I do hope you feel better very soon, and the rant will do you a world of good.
Sending lots of warm and healing hugs (((((((())))))

    Hi Sue,

Not good when you do not get a good nights sleep. I've never been a good sleeper so I can understand how it can get to you.
The heavens have openned here as well and everything looks so sad at the moment.
Have you ever tried the talking books? Maybe they could help pass the time and give your eyes a rest.

    Take care,
