not long been back from my review appointment with my rheummy. first appointment in feb diagnosed full body oa, agressively worsened over the last 6 months and just been diagnosed also with fibromyalgia.

at least i have a reason for all the extra cr*p im going through, the tirednes, dizziness and muscle pain.

he's taken more bloods to check for ra, as my joints are so much worse and spreading so gotta wait for the results of them and he's referring me to a physio to help show me some gentle exercises to try help me lose weight (which is something i want to do and asked about, not something he told me i had to do, which was nice) also he is going to recommend to my gp that i take something to try and help me sleep at night.

all in all a good appointment and the rheummy was very kind and put me at ease as soon as i walked in the room.

just wait to hear from my gp now with whatever meds he's gonna put me on and the results of the bloods...

I'm glad he was kind to you - it does make such a difference when they listen and don't just bark orders at you. You have learned more about what is going on so I hope that makes you feel more in control. Take care. DD

    Hi Caroline :D

....well at least you know why you've been feeling so sore all over and so tired. :? there' a lot of info about fibro in the publications section here and elsewhere on the net that you might find helpful.

I'm so glad your rheummy was so nice and so supportive. and that you're feeling ok about the appointment.. all in all.

Good news he's suggesting night meds for you. :D I take Amatriptyline and so do lots of other peeps here.... but there are other night meds; it'll depend on what suits you best and the doc'll know that. Hopefully then you'll get a decent and restful night's sleep.... makes quite a difference!

hope the other blood results come through quickly and that there's nothing else for you yo cope with.

    thanks :)

im not too bothered about the diagnosis as it doesnt really change anything i suppose. the symptoms wont change and ill still carry on from day to day with the same problems but at least i have a name for it now and they can give me something to ease it. thats probably why im not too upset, i had a clue what it might be and the doc has just confirmed it really.

it does help that the rheummy was nice, he was lovely actually. smiled as soon as we walked through the door, told me to take a seat and asked me how i was doing. told him the truth, he examined me, told me what it was and told me what he was going to do. the appointment didnt last too long but he gave me plenty of information and support so i suppose that was all that matters really.

thanks again, will wait to hear about my bloods now but otherwise, just carry on :)

It's good to be able to put a name to what's happening to your body and it also helps the Dr's when they're deciding what medication to offer you. I hope you get something that will help you sleep better as light and inadequate sleep will exacerbate the fibromyalgia. As Dorcas says, Amytriptyline has been used with good effect. Hopefully you'll get something to help you soon when you check up with your GP.
I hope your blood tests give you some answers, did the Rheumy say when they'd see you again with the results?
    Take care,rita

    Hi Caroline,

Well it does make all the difference when you get a good Rhummy.
Gives you confidence to ask questions.

A lot to think about but soon you will get the right treatment.

Hope you manage a better sleep tonight.

thank you ironic, im already feeling more settled tonight. just sat watching tv with the hubby and feel quite at ease.

and thanks ritwren, i had my bloods done straight after seeing the rheummy she said a couple of days and they'll be sent back to him and he'll write to my gp with his results. presuming gp will take it from there to sort medication etc...

the rheummy is really good, im very lucky and my gp is a star. makes a hell of a difference to get good medical support.

thanks to everyone who has supported me. im feeling quite positive x
