Sorry to bore you all again but have got another infection so back on the antibiotics again. I have had precisely 4 days off them. This time it's my throat as well as my chest. grrr! Making chicken soup and staying in bed. What else can a girl do?

My Gp fantastic as usual. She says the increased dose of steroids is the reason why I've got ill again. Going to have to chose between my joints or infections it seems, until they can sort out my meds. Tough one so rang the rheumy nurse and she is going to try and sort out my urgent appointment with consultant - i.e. find out what's happened to it! I don't think arthritis will kill me but do think an infection might. I'm shocked at how vulnerable I am to them.

p.s. been having a little trouble with my identity too - sorry to all those I've confused by changing my avatar so many times - gone back to my original choice
:)

    Good heavens Salamander!

I hope the appointment comes through soon.

Have you had blood tests recently (sorry if I've missed this).. I am wondering what your inflammatory markers are showing/how high they are...

    Take care

hi Marion, yes, I had some a couple of weeks ago and they were fine apart from raised liver - but told that prob due to antib's. Problem with steroids is they mask the results so inflammatory markers always down. Both my rheumy and my gp don't think I need to have any done right now. It's worrying though. Don't know what to say to my family and friends as they must be as bored as I am with it all.

    Hi Salamander

Oh - I understand now about the steroids 'masking' the inflammation..

I do hope you pick up soon - you must be absolutely worn out with all these infections..

    take care

    Hi salamander,

You're not boring us! far from it... we want to hear how you are and support you if we can.

Lowered resistance because of the meds and then steroids on top has floored your body  but now they know what they're dealing with I hope it won't be long before you get back to normal.

difficult to do without the arther meds :? but sounds as though that's the only way forward flower.

keep posting as much and as often as you need to... you're going through so much just now....we are here for you.

they're all me DD! Am feeling a bit better this morning (finger's crossed) so the antib's have kicked in. Only, I forgot to reduce my steroids this morning as supposed to in order to help infection. Drat! Another edgy day and sleepless night :)

Thanks DD and Toni, yes am going to put a great big sticker on the box. I've got so many meds it gets confusing, though I am cutting some out.
