Hi everyone
I've been on the waiting list to attend the AC course 'Challenging your Condition' and was really pleased to get a letter today from the Glasgow Office to say that there is a course coming up locally and inviting me to attend.
It's run over 6 weeks (one day per week!) and the Topics look really interesting and include the emotional as well as the physical aspects of living with a chronic condition, pain and fatigue management, healthy eating, and activity and exercise.
I just wondered if anyone else here have attended this course?

Hi Iris
I attended this course in Stirling last year and found it really helpful. They also open the floor to everyone on how they manage with housework, getting dressed etc and I picked up quite a few good tips. The breathing excercises they teach you are also very helpful. You also meet other people in the same situation as yourself and learn things from them. I found the course to be very usefull and made quite a few friends which I still meet with for coffee and a good old natter.
Hope you enjoy it as much as I did.
Regards

Hi folks
Trisha thanks for the feedback!
You can find out about this course by going to the AC 'Home Page' and then clicking on 'In Your Area'... it shows a map of GB and if you click on the area you live it will take you to another page that will tell you what courses are available.
As there wasn't anything at the time I looked, I put my name down for a course and forgot about it. That was a few months ago and hey presto! letter today saying there is a course starting mid October ... better still it is very local to me... 4mls away.
I am looking forward to going and will definitely let everyone know how it 'goes' and what handy hints I pick up.

Hi Iris
You'll enjoy it I'm sure....I went to one last year as well and it did so much good. Self management.
In fact at the minute I'm waiting to be trained to take them myself.
My hip op plus the fact that there isnt a training about at the minute is the only thing thats holding me up.
As for not being one in your are.....sorry cant remember who said that.... Put your name down ....go to the front page and do it....It costs quite a lot and the person in charge has to try to get someone to fund it.Primary Care Trust usually....if there were enough people in an area interested i'm sure they would dotheir best to have one near you.
Love

I did the 'Challenging arthritis' course a few years ago and it was very good. I guess this is the new improved version so will be even better
It was very useful, and I still use a lot of the tips I learned then, although it is easy to slip back into old habits
hope you enjoy it

Hi Iris,
Its well worth doing. I went one last year and its good. For me a lot of it I have been dong for years but there was some bits I hadn't thought of and also it was nice to meet the others.
I did almost fall asleep though here and there  There isn't much down this sway as we don't have a group even here so it was really nice to meet the others.
We had a very good bk as well... its full of stuff again that you sot of do anyway BUT it never hurts to be reminded eh?
Hope you enjoy it and sending a (((( )))) and a cuppa. Cris xx0
