Please excuse me I'm having a bit of a mad day today.

Tomorrow afternoon I'm going to see the gynaecologist in Sheffield, then I'm travelling to Norwich and stopping in a hotel overnight as I'm seeing a rheumy there in the morning. I'm leaving my kids at home with my PA doing a babysitting sleepover. I'm nervous about the appointments, I'm nervous about leaving the kids and today my daughter got sent home from school because she's been sick. She's not allowed to go back to school for 48 hours, which means I've now had to arrange for my other PA to babysit.

Thankfully my daughter isn't too poorly, she's had some toast and juice and not been sick anymore. I think there is a bug going around the school, I just pray by 2 boys don't get it too, or me! I'm hoping the stomach ache and nausea I have is from my medication and nerves...

Wish me luck! I think I'm going to need it!

Clair

you'll be fine Clair you be set a hurdle to test you and i sure everything will be ok, when its all over and done with you'll wonder why you worried, i do think these things happen for a reason and that it find out how tough we are and what we can cope with and sometimes we can and do cope with more than you think.

    good luck you'll be fine.

Sheffield and Norwich? You must have moved recently - can you get both under the same roof soon? I know how badly you have been suffering clairec, and I hope something can be done for you gynae wise. I go to Ipswich Hospital, but as The Husband works in Norwich we may be moving more in that direction soon: I would be interested to hear what you think about it there. I wish you well, and I hope to whoever that you start feeling better soon. DD

I haven't moved, I'm still in Worksop, Nottinghamshire. I'm seeing a gynae in Sheffield at the Jessop Wing because they are better than at Bassetlaw Hospital. I'm seeing Dr Merry in Norwich because the local rheumy's can't help me so I asked to be sent to a specialist in Reactive Arthritis.

I found Dr Merry's website back in February, it said he treated reactive arthritis so I emailed and asked his advice. He was very interested in my case and he offered to see me at his private practice but I couldn't afford the fees. When I asked to see a specialist I told my GP that I'd found him and they managed to get me an NHS referral to his clinic at Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital.

I didn't want to be travelling all over the country to see people, it's just that's where the right people are.

I am sorry, I didn't realise that. Oh that's tough, but I guess it is difficult to always have good people right on one's doorstep. I hope it all goes well, and I do hope they can help. I shall be thinking of you - please let us know how you get on. DD

    Hi Clairc

I know it is a pain travelling - but I think you are doing the right thing. I travel 2 hours to see my Rheumy and I think that every minute is worth it. Make sure you take all the information with you - symptoms etc as that will be really useful. Well I hope that both appointments go really well and this is the beginning of getting all your problems sorted out.

Take care - will be thinking of you

    Hi Claire,
I see Dr Merry at Norwich. He's very good. Can seem a bit abrupt sometimes, and has a very dry sense of humour, he certainly know's his stuff!
I hope you get on ok with both appointments.

Hi Clair, good luck for your two appointments. Are you driving or travelling by train? Great that your PA's are able to sleepover and look after the kids, would have been a lot more tricky if you had to take them with you. Your PA's can always text/phone you if they need to query anything. Hopefully you'll have two constructive appointments.

I have had OA since mid twenties. It affects my hips and knees. I had a THR on the left aged 30 and now have a resurface-replacement on the right - done May 2010.

    Hi Clair,

I am sure they will look after the kids and all will be well at home. Its hard though but you have to think of you for a second and try not to worry too much. Leaving you a bucket of hopes that your appointments go well and its good to see your guy is so recommended here as well. Fingers crossed for you. Cris x

    Hi Clair

Just to add my good wishes and hope that these appointments finally give you the help you so badly need.

Hope too that all will be well at home while you are gone. I'm sure your PAs will do a great job looking after the children, so try not to worry if you can.

    Thinking of you Clair.

    Hope all goes well Clare.

I bet the kids will have a great time, so don't worry about them. Remember, no news is good news, so you can relax and concentrate on your appointments.

Bit of a trek for sure, but hopefully well worth the effort for you.

    Fingers crossed.
