anyone else really worries about THAT letter that calls you in for the medical test ?
from the dwp ?
I have been on incapacity for ten years , I cant work
believe me if I could , I would have got a job
apparently this new govt are speeding through people testing more and more
I know its sounds awful but I hope I am last on the list to be called in
sory to sound bad
love you all

hi Blue beard I think most of us to some degree are dreading the letter, I personally will not be attempting going back to work after leaving in 81 to bring up my family of 5 kids my youngest is now 15 but 4 of them had disabilitys now most of them are ok and doing their own thing I feel my illnesses have taken a toll on me and know theres nothing that would fit in with my many hospital and clinic appointments plus the pain I have makes it too much for me to be able to guarantee a day or even half days work, I do however get DLA, which i get indefinatly, yes I am worried I might say or do the wrong thing and they dont get what my health is always like, I guess we need to be thorough in what we say and do,
I still think only new claims should have had to go through this as we've already proved by our DRs and specialists letters etc so feel like they are disbelieving of the DRs opinions and words which is totally out of order, good luck anyway try not to worry about it ,0 -

my only saving grace is that i have been on IB for many years , my mate who works for dwp reckons they will take some time to get to those on long term benefit as they reckon ..and this sounds awful ..it will be easier to kick people off who have only just become ill...what a shocking state of affairs0 -
Yes, losing a welcome benefit is hard and will make a big difference. Most of us can do something even if its use our brainpower rather than our physical abilities, however most of us won't get a job doing that sort of work!
Keep smiling.

I am doing some volunteering at the moment , they say you have to tell them but I am telling them sweet nothing , thas a ploy to say " ahh..so you CAN do something !!..kick him off !! "
I had an awful time when I made a simple mistake on a renewal form and they stopped my benefit without informing me by letter
I only found out two months later when I checked my account !!
I dont trust them one bit0 -
Hello Bluebeard
I can sympathise totally with how you are feeling. I too, have been on incapacity for about the same length of time, have had medicals at the request of the DWP in the past.
I recently received a review letter, asking for medical problems, etc, plus a request for information from my GP. I too, waited, with some trepidation (why we should feel like this, I do not know, we are ill for Heaven's sake, unable to work due to one or multiple health problems, it is not a lifestyle choice as has been bantered about by the Politicians).
Steady Bubbles, you are ranting.
I waited, then the DWP envelope arrives, you know exactly who it is from as soon as the post man has it in his hands. Well, it said that I have met all the "criteria" and scored more than enough "points" and they no longer needed any more medical information or the like and I will be paid, as normal, with a Christmas bonus each year of £10.
I honestly think, although I may just be cynical, that the whole process of forms, letters, more forms, examinations, more information, is designed to wear you down and in the end, makes you feel like a criminal, but, you have to battle on to the end and it can be a battle at times.
I hope that they reply soon and that you have a supportive GP, wishing you every success. XXXX BubblesXX Aidan (still known as Bubbles).0 -
hi BB, I am no one to talk but it's not good to worry about something that hasn't happened yet. Who knows what could happen between now and then. There is a lot of pressure being put on the government about the way disabled people are being treated. By the time they get to you things may have changed. You might even get the support you need.0

Hi salamander. I do not have any hope with this government treating the less fortunate fairly. It's the easy targets they're after
to save money.0 -
yes, but there are an awful lot of pressure groups out there and they are working their socks off. I think government will have to change tack, they just have to do it in a way that doesn't look like a climb down. I really don't think they will get away with it for much longer.0

Hi bluebeared
It awful having people worrying like this, stress is not good, but they don't seem to care about this.
Its a massive task to give everyone that is off sick a medical, so maybe it will take a few years to say the least.
Good luck

I know there are a lot of spongers out there ( present company the exceptions) but just where are all these jobs coming from
:? :?
If they knock 50,000 off the sick can they come up with the jobs for them or is it a question of paying them less on jobseekers allowance :?:0 -

Do what :?: Know there are a lot of spongers out there :?:
Certainly do :!:
Young man 27ish has two cars, one a BMW, never worked
(legally that is, he does building work) laughs all the way to the bank.
Told me once that when they tell him he's coming off benefits he makes 'an attempt at suicide' and presto he's back on benefits.
That is only one case.0 -
Hi bluebeard
Yes I am one of those who dread the letter as I also haven't worked in years.
My family and friends laugh at me and tell me not to be so stupid.
My hands are bent. I cant touch my head .I can't walk and I have one prosthetic leg. plus other things but i still worry. If I could work I would .
But I would still be the one they told Get a job.

Yes, one that you know of. I don't know any. I just think you are doing the government's dirty work for them if you buy into the whole 'benefit spongers' debate and use that terminology. That's all.0 -

I do agree though , the government have done a very good job of turning people in need against each other
its called divide and rule
soon people will be argueing as to who is " the most ill "
I dont know any " scroungers "0 -

My daughter had her housing benefit stopped without being told too.First she knew was when looking at bank account. She was on ESA but was looking for work and told them so they just stopped it without telling her (face to face interview). She could have lost her home.
