Hi, I'd have a chat with the Chemist as they are very knowledgeable about drugs and then chat with the doctor. Some people repond better to different pain killers, I've tried quite a few and tramadol slow release suit me best. Good luck! Love Sue

Hi Peeps , just finally managed to get into dr's ,went yesterday but only to nurse practioner who could't change my tablets waste of time! But got to see my normal dr :) , He's now put me on Lansoprazole 15mg,Naproxen 500mgs, Paracetamol 500mg and Tramadol 50mg. So fingers crossed they'll make things easier now  !

Also my scan went well yesterday and was't as bad as I thought, don't know why I worried my self so much, but the staff were lovely and made me feel at ease 8)

Thanks for all being so supportive :)

    Hi Tillypink,

I am glad that yesterday went well and you feel more at ease. :D

I found that codeine phosphate and tramadol were really bad for me (I took them after I had a back injury from a car accident) as the Codine made me feel really sick and out of it and did little for the pain and the tramadol I had an allergic reaction to after just ONE tablet - it turned out that I showed all signs of overdose and should have gone to A&E! Everyone is different though, so hopefully the new concoption of drugs should suit you better. Feel better soon! xx

    HI Tilly

so glad you are off both those anti-inflams, as I am sure they weren't helping you feel any better

I recently changed to Naproxen, and it is good :D Mind you, do let your doctors know if you get any tummy problems because I am on 30mg Lansoprazole as 15 wasn't enough for me. THey do work wonderfully though and the stomach aches have all gone. ONly trouble is remembering to take them on an empty stomach though

good luck & I hope you are soon feeling much brighter.

    hugs

two NSAIDS at once rings alarm bells with me
as they can have some really nasty side effects for you stomach
(I am rarely able to take one as they make me feel very ill and i get severe nausea and stomach problems) and they are essentially doing the same thing.

I looked around and found this article http://arthritis.about.com/od/nsaids/a/dual_nsaids.htm

it says "The increased risk associated with taking two NSAIDs is significant. A study published in the European Journal of Clinical Pharmacology concluded that the risk of severe drug reactions causing injury to the liver and acute renal failure was 6 to 7 times higher in reported cases of simultaneous use of two NSAIDs."

I would strongly suggest that you check that this is not a prescribing error as it sounds like it could be
Especially if it is making you not feel too great
    Hope you get sorted soon
    Chrissie

thanks for the info had a look :)

    Hi Tillypink

Just popped in to say glad you got some different meds and some Lanzoprazole too. I have found that the Lanzo seems to work better the longer I take it before eating so I tend to try to leave at least an hour if I can. And like Wonky says, you can have a higher dose of Lanzo if needed. I too take the 30mg pills to help protect my stomach from the Diclo and Pred. Really hope you find that this new combo works better for you.

    Love (the other) Tilly xxx
