Expensive trip to Ikea

Oh my life I know that when I go to Ikea I have to keep a rein on spending but this was amazing. I am trying to work out how 2 boxes, some serviettes and plastic bags (oh and mustn't forget the meatballs!) cost nearly £800.00.

Let me explain; I went over to Ikea for a few things ( well as patriotic as I am I am getting weary of the Ryder Cup) left Hubby with the telly, youngest on the laptop and uber-cool Ellie doing an essay. We (eldest daughter and myself) had a nice little trip over as we knew what we were looking for and when I got in the golf was still on but Hubby was looking a bit sheepish. "You alright?" I asked full of wifely concern, "I've just bought a motorbike on Ebay" he blurted out. "Whhhhaaaaatttt?" "Well you knew I was looking for one" "But I didn't know you were serious". So as I see it I have two choices - put and shut up or find out my old leathers, dust them off and lose three stone!! Thought myself a bit old to be a Biker Chick again but if you can't beat 'em ...... The thing I find hard (and Tchekev will understand where I am coming from) my Hubby is a scooterist (see my thread on tattoos!). Oh well nowt as queer as folk especially ones who are going through their mid - life crisis!!

Grew up with Bikes ...my dad use to ride and he use to pick me up from school. I use to love it. My youngest lad has a bike only one fall up to now (17 years old). Knows it all and would not wear the proper trousers. Well after his fall and he split his knee open, got an infection etc...he does now.
Have a blast mind you pick a nice dry sunny day to go out. Ahhh the wind face...love it

Yes that's what I'm worried about too!! I've always been a bit of a short a**e so used to have to 'climb' on the back of bikes... Don't think I'll stand a chance now!!

Yes Lupin I was the same as you my Dad was an ex bike racer so grew up with the small of Castrol R. Used to think it was great if Dad picked me up on the Norton. Goodness only knows what he'd think if he knewI married a scooter-boy!! I truly believe when my time is up he'll be at the pearly gates on the bike and saying "C'mon girl get on!"

I m not surprised Kate. Quite a few of the local scooterists buy a bike in the end(faster and more reliable I'm told). When 2 of my scooterist friends got married recently half the guests were Hells Angels! Turns out he is a prospective member of one of the H.A clubs and they came to support him at his wedding. The other half of the guests were mods or scooterists. Everybody got on well I am pleased to report.
I have the problem of OH always buying more scooters. He's never satisfied with the ones he's got and keeps adding to the collection. The word Ebay is a scarey word in my house.

Toni, Kate may have the same prob as me.I cannot physically sit on the seat anymore due to hip mobility-or rather lack of it.
My days as a passenger are out the window at the moment.
Is it the same for you Kate?
