good morning, hope everyone isnt in too much pain today, sending gentle hugs to those who need them.

i applied for dla, i got a letter back saying they had received my claim form and were writing to my rheumatologist. my rheummy said he was forwarding the letter to my gp as he doesnt do reports anymore as the gp's are more familiar with the patients (which i agree with).

i got another letter from the dla yesterday morning and the first words i saw were 'we are sorry....' i felt gutted then it carried on to say we havent been able to make a decision as they are still waiting for the medical report which my gp has this morning confirmed he has now returned.

so now its a waiting game. presuming they have the information they want, i just have to wait for that dreaded letter with dwp written on the envelope...

im just hoping my rheumatologist has confirmed to my gp the diagnosis of fibromyalgia so that my gp has included it in the report.

ive made an appointment this morning to see my gp first thing tomorrow morning at 10am...

fingers crossed for a good result but i aint holding my breath x

    Hi Dipeety

Shame your appt wasn't before he sent off the letter :? What if he didnt know about the fibro

Waiting is so hard - did they say roughly how long? If they did I would stick a note on the dairy and then TRY to forget it all till then.

    Love

As the army say, hurry up and wait. Hang on in there, dippy, it will all be resolved at some point. Thinking of you. DD

    Hi dippy

waiting for a decision and a brown envelope to drop through the letter box is just so frustrating... and worrying too

You'll be with your doc now.... so I do hope he gave the DLA a full report with the Fibro diagnosis included.

    let us know please?

You would think that in this joined up age that the DWP could send your GP a link to a formatted screen and he could fill in his details, tick a couple of boxes, 'agree or not agree', on his computer screen and it would all be done!

The mind boggles at the ineptitude of the NHS/DWP/Government, what on earth have they been spending billions on, apart from their wages and bonuses? New bl***y typewriters and franking machines?

    Hi there dippydoodah

Hope your GP appt was productive this morning.

I know it's not easy but like other peeps have said, once you have done everything you can to move it forward, I think the best you can do is to do your best to put it out of your mind until either you get your letter, or you decide it is time to chase.

    Thinking of you.

hi folks and thanks but i have an apology to make, i thought id said my appointment was tomorrow morning   sorry!

i will let you know how i get on of course. i think that my gp was waiting for my latest results to come back from the rheumatologist before he wrote the report as they wrote to him some time ago and he's only just written back when the rheummy has written to him... i'll double check tomorrow but im not too worried about that really as my gp is fantastic and he was the one who referred me to further tests and made a note of it all on his pc at the time that i was applying for dla ~ he even made a note of every single symptom i was having on his pootah so he could tell the dla....i love my gp! :D

sorry for the confusion and i'll let you know how i get on tomorrow.
    thank you xx

    good morning all x

well... ive been to see my gp this morning and to be honest im a bit unsettled now. he hadnt read through the letter from the consultant, it was stuck under a big pile of papers he hadnt dealt with yet which would lead me to believe when hes send the dla report back, he hasnt included the fibromyalgia  further, he advised me he doesnt really comment on what a patient can and cannot do as he doesnt live with them so he just advises what conditions i have (excluding the fibro) and sends it back. great.

my hubby is going to ring the dla up and advise them of the further diagnosis of fibro (he has done once before but he wants to double check that theyve noted it down) and hopefully the dla will get confirmation from the gp before they make any decisions.

other than that, nothing more was said. ive told him ive come off the co-codamol as they were spacing me out and he agreed so im back on basic paracetamol...i guess i shall just muddle through.

he's given me some amitriptyline to take one each night before i go to bed, if one doesnt work after one week, increase to two.

so im back to just plodding along for now.
im not holding my breath over the dla result now, thought my gp would have been more help

Sorry yo hear about this frustrating situation.

When I appled for DLA I sent in the forms but also phoned them and sent in a further letter detailing everything and I was successful first time.

So, if you think that some of your conditions are missing from the records maybe it wouldn't hurt to call and write to fill them in? It may help.

    Good lcuk, Carol

    Hi Dippy,

I had a letter saying they were asking for more info from my consultant. a week later I got another letter marked DWP and thought it would be another such letter....still waiting...sorry about the delay.... etc.but no it was my confirmation of DLA letter. I wasn't expecting such a quick reply(only sent it in 3 weeks before) so wasnt shaking or nervous about opening the letter as I would have been if Id known what it was!
Got a bit of a shock I can tell you....everything went through quickly with no delays. I guess my Rheummy is very efficient.

good luck with your application for DLA - I'm in a similar position. Applied 2 weeks ago and have received letter that they are contacting rheumy for report. I was at clinic the day I sent the form in and told the sister that I had done it so I'm also waiting in hope.

my husband has just rang them to confirm they made notes of his last call, when he told them about the fibro. apparently they have it all noted down. he spoke to a lovely lady who confirmed they have all the evidence they need to confirm my conditions.

its just a waiting game now. im not going to get my hopes up, i know its a hard thing to get these days but at least hopefully i may get a decision soon to put my mind at rest, then i can either jump up and down in excitement (or maybe not lol) or get ready to appeal. at least i'll know x

Well at least you know that they have all the relevant information which must give you at least some relief. Sorry your GP was not more help though.

Think you are right not to get your hopes up dippydoodah but just know that you have done everything you can for now.

I have everything crossed for you for a successful outcome.
