I phoned the blue badge people....got fobbed off and have to wait some more... ok fine, dealt with that one.
Got through to the consultants sec. trying to chase up my 'emergency' appointment and turns out that they've written back to my GP without telling me anything and that they are so over booked that they will 'try to fit me in before Christmas'..... that was it! Final straw. I said to her that I just can't function like this. So if I go private and fork out loads of money then I am out of the NHS system and have to start again.
Am fuming and so upset.
Having just typed all that there is a ...... Part 2........
The secretary just phoned me back and says that she's going to overbook me for next Tuesday!
Oh my goodness!!!!!!! I don't know why I'm still crying!

Hi
Download the forms for the blue bade, I got mine with DLA, but you can apply if you don't get DLA but find it hard walking.
Has for your appointment, you can go private, then its back on the NHS, you just pay for the initial appointment not sure how much it is.
I'm so glad they are fitting you in, you make sure you do get the appointment, sadly we have to fight our corner these days on the NHS.
Good Luck

Hi Barbara,
I've applied already for the BB and just still waiting for them to get back to me.
Annoyingly with our hospital you go back to having to be referred if you go out of the system to go private!
SOOOO glad that I have an appointment for tuesday now! But an AWFUL lot hangs on that appointment....just want to get to Tuesday now so that I can find out how my life is going to pan out...

I hope it all goes well for you, I have certainly been there, make sure you write everything down you need to ask, and take it with you (i left mine at home  )
Good luck with it.

These things take time. The rheumatology department at my local hospital is the fastest-growing department there. They have the largest case-load, the highest number of patients to be seen on a daily basis and they are woefully under-staffed. Despite this, they still shut-up-shop at lunchtime on a Friday. That is the bit I do not understand. Half a day missed. And as for appointments at the weekends - you are having a laugh! One learns patience in so many areas of one's life when arthritis strikes. hi st. Lu, I'm in the same position as you vis a vis the blue badge. Got turned down as they said they hadn't got my diagnosis :? Interesting, as it was on every letter and I spelt it out......
Re: consultant, had a similar thing myself. Ended up ring his PA. They forget sometimes!
Glad you are being seen next week - me too, on Wednesday.

Merrily went off to my physio appointment only to get there for them to tell me that I'd missed it and it had been that morning. I could have cried. It took alot of effort driving there and not being able to park close in a disabled space as I am still waiting for the badge, and then to be told that. Ugh....so I have to wait until next week.

Hi St. L, how irritating!! Why don't you ask them why they don't send out text reminders. My hospital does for most clinics and they are brilliant as I often write the time down wrongy or something.

It can be difficlut to keep track of all the appointments one has: I have a specific diary for health and nothing else, that way it is all in one place. I back this up with my own text alerts. Organisation takes time, but does pay off in the long run. It is worth asking of they do send out reminders, you never know your luck! DDHave you got the despatches? No, I always walk like this.
