MTX Tonight....

Hi All,
Well tonight is the night that I am going to take my first MTX.
I have the soda water and the ice lollies ready just in case. I also have my comfort food of tomatoes soup for tomorrow. Any further suggestions welcome.
I’m trying to keep busy at work today but I must admit that I am having the predicted wobble.
Will have to get a grip I know.
Well I’d better get back to the grind stone for a while longer.

I would try not to think about it too much, take it as if it were just another painkiller. If you psychologically build it up it might just make you feel worse.
I was very lucky it wasn't until I reached my final up dose of 25mg that I got any side effects at all really fingers crossed and hopefully it may pass without incident.
If not I find ginger cordial and marmite on toast helps with nausea
Hope it works for you

The more of a big deal you make it, the more of a big deal it will become - and won't you feel daft when you wake tommorrow morning perfectly OK? I know that meth is renowned for its side effects, which certainly get plenty of coverage on here, but it DOESN'T affect EVERYONE. I had to stop the tablets as I developed a rash - I did not, however, have any nausea. I moved onto injected meth after enbrel tried to explode my liver simply because it was thought I would tolerate it better that way: I have only felt queasy twice in all that time, and it didn't last long. It is not the devil it is painted.
I think you are doing the right thing in taking it at night, hopefully you will sleep thro any initial problems. If you do feel a little off-colour tomorrow, then so be it. It probably won't last, and if it does well the folic acid should help to knock it on the head. I wish you well, I shall be thinking of you tonight. Report in tomorrow, please! DD
PS I had Daisy out at in the early hours - smashing it was too!Have you got the despatches? No, I always walk like this. Eddie Braben0 -
Hi Ironic
Hopefully I can encourage you to worry a bit less by telling you that, having re-started meth 3 weeks ago after many years break, I have been absolutely fine so far. A little bit of nausea here and there which may, or may not be associated with the meth but generally not a problem.
I too was really nervous but, as has already been suggested I treat them like any other tab - just take them and do my best to forget about it. I take mine after food - giving the food an hour or so to "go down" first and then swallow them with a glass of milk to try to avoid any stomach irritation (don't know if that makes a difference but I feel as if it helps).
I always plan a "reward" for myself - something to look forward too - in my case a nice glossy mag and a big piece of choccy cake!
Also, it does get easier - I was far less nervous after I had taken the first dose.
Really good luck Ironic - I will be thinking of you tonight.

Hi Ironic
I reckon try not to worry - worry can chhurn your stomach up all on its own cant it :?
Secondly get enough ( plenty) of sleep.
Good luck

Hi Ironic, I was really nervous before I took my first dose. Read every post about when to take it etc. but found I hardly noticed any side effects. A bit of nausea later in the week sometimes and a bit tired but nothing too bad.

Hi Ironic
Good advice from the others when they say just treat like another pain med, thinking to much about it will worry you more.
There are lots of people on it, I am sure there will be others coming along with more tips.
Good luck

Hi everyone,
I did get my act together last night took them and drank a load of water to wash them down. I have now made the commitment to take them so hopefully things will improve given time. Thank you for all your support and good wishes, it means a lot when taking the next step. I think everyone must feel apprehensive when starting something new to them. That is why this forum is such a great source of information at whatever level you are at.
Thank you all for being there last night and for the much needed shove over the last week. I cannot thank you enough.

Just wondering if you're okay? Is it tonight you have your second dose of MTX?
Hopefully you've had a good week, and will have no problems with your next dose.
Love from Lynn xxx
Hi Lynn,
You made me jump there. Just taken it about hour ago.
So far so good thanks for asking.
How are you doing? Fingers crossed that your jaw is getting better.
Are you chancing going to the caravan this weekend?
Lv, Ix0 -
Hi Cris,
Thanks for asking I’m doing ok. It was just the first time thing. Typical me I’m afraid.
Your support is really appreciated especially when you have so much on your plate.
Watch out for that Hoover, they tend to bit back.
Hi Lynn,
Good that your jaw is a bit better. Hope the weekend is a good one for you. Hey maybe in a few weeks time I’ll be able to cartwheel!!! Could not do them before but you never know.
