Hi
The saga continues. The promised letter has not yet arrived and I had not had the promised phone call either. So at 3.30 on a Friday afternoon, I decided that I needed to ring them AGAIN before the answerphone went on for the weekend. On the 2nd attempt I got through to the sec I spoke to on Monday. She said the consultant had dictated the letter and she hoped to get it typed up this afternoon. He won`t be able to sign it til Monday as he isn`t at that hospital til then. She couldn`t tell me what was in the letter as she hadn`t listened to the tape he`d dictated yet.
So , I will have to wait til next week to find out what his restrictions are. I have a GP appointment on Wednesday and hope to have the letter for then.
I hope you all have a good weekend.
NB

    Hi NB

Well done for sticking with it and managing to speak to a real person! I know it's frustrating that you still don't know what the letter says but hopefully you will have it in time for the GP appt on Weds.

I wonder though if the actual answer might be they just don't know? See what happens cus things always change and they have to give you the blackest out come. Keep in touch and do you nee a pocket duty cus well can't do much except offer support. ((( ))) and don't let it spoil your week end Cris xx

Hi Tilly, Barbara, Toni, Ironic, Marion, Hileena and Cris,
Thanks for your replies and support xxxxx I really needed it .
I am still feeling a bit disappointed that I am no wiser yet.
I agree Cris that they may not be totally sure of what to write etc... but he was very sure of what he thought i should have as restrictions in clinic. If he puts these in the letter, I will have to inform work of this and see what they think. I know I cannot do part of my job with those strict restrictions.
I wish I was seeing the other surgeon next week as originally planned before they `lost ` my appointment. My hip is still sore and keeps `clunkin` and I thought it would feel better by now, also my other hip is achey and clicking a lot. It would have been good to ask his opinion of this and his opinion of the restrictions.
I will speak to my GP on Wednesday but am sure she won`t know what the answers are!!
I received a lovely bouquet from a colleague today, which was lovely as she hasn`t been working with me long really. This was especially nice as I just found out my work colleagues all went out last night and I wasn`t invited. Never mind, just being oversensitive

    Hi NB,
they really are making you play the waiting game aren't you - it sounds very infuriating.

Do you have a new appointment to see the other surgeon to replace the "lost" appointment? You really need to know more about the clunking. Is your other hip aching because it is having to work harder whilst you follow hip restrictions?

Even if your Gp doesn't know all the answers she should be proactive in helping you to obtain some.

How lovely about the bouquet. I expect work didn't invite you as they didn't know if you would physically cope with the outing ... would have been nice to have been asked though. I feel very out of it re work too.

I have had OA since mid twenties. It affects my hips and knees. I had a THR on the left aged 30 and now have a resurface-replacement on the right - done May 2010.

    Hi Speedy
I have a new appointment on the 28th Oct, which is good, but my sick/fit note runs out a few days before, and I would have liked to have a 2nd opinion before then, but he ho!
My flowers are lovely and have really touched me. I wish I had her number to thank her, I will get it on Monday.

    Hi NB and Speedy.

NB I agree with Speedy that your GP should be being pro-active in finding out what the restrictions are so hopefully you can push for that when you go on Weds.

So sorry you felt excluded by work but, as Speedy says it may just be that they didn't like to ask in case you were disappointed if you felt you couldn't make it. As you say, would have been nice to have been asked tho' But how lovely of your new colleague to send you flowers. Glad you are enjoying them.

    Love Tilly xxx

    Hi NB
Which bit do you think is odd? The phone call or the Saturday.
If its the Saturday......my last appointment was on a Saturday and the one before that was at 5.30pm.
    I think it was speedy that remarked that my consultant worked funny hours {something like that}

    Hi NB
hope this is a good week for getting answers. Re phone calls at weekends - the cardiac consultant phoned my hubby himself at 11 am on a Sunday morning inviting him for an appointment. I was busy cooking bacon and eggs at the time. Perhaps we might have more chance of speaking to a doctor at weekends.
How lovely to receive flowers so unexpectedly, I'm sure everyone at work is wishing you well. Bet they didn't want to put you in a difficult position by asking you out, they are usually a supportive bunch aren't they. Hope management are also being supportive,
enjoy the sunshine while it lasts ,

Flowers - how lovely! Lack of invite? Probably didn't want to cause you pain/discomfort, but they should have asked anyway. Phone call from a HOSPITAL on a SATURDAY? I have to go and make an emergency cuppa - I have palpitations.

I fear you will have to keep plugging away, nb, until you get the answers. Ring them every day until they do what they should be doing, bearing in mind, perhaps, that all the other patients promised letters etc, will be doing the same! Hospitals are a beaurocratic nightmare, the catching up that poor secretary would have had to do after being ill doesn't bear thinking about! I hope you are feeling OK today. DD

Hi, Glad you've got an appointment. My hospital have clinics on Saturdays now, to catch up and I had my MRI on a Sunday at 8.30!!!
Husband not to pleased at the time as he'd had to get up early on the Saturday! It's good they are thinking of how to make best use of their time, I hope the appointment goes well. Maybe a Saturday appointment will be quieter and you will have a better chance to discuss things. Lots of love, Sue xxx((((((())))) P.S my Medical centre stays open til 8pm most nights and they have an emergancy clinic on Saturday mornings!!!

    Hi
    Thanks Elaine, DD and Sue
I am hoping for a positive outcome this week, well thats what I keep telling myself!!
My flowers are lovely and I rang work to thank them for the flowers. It was nice to speak to my colleague who was really kind. Made me quite tearful, it always does that whan someone is nice to me when I`m feeling a bit low.
My hip is still painful and I think when they put it back in place they caused some nerve damamge (one of the risks) as my leg is numb and stiff in the mornings. It improves a bit after a bit of movement.
I will check this with the GP this week.
Hope you are all feeling good on this sunny day.
