Right I know it's early and most of you are either in the pit or just having morning nibbles but I have just watched the girlies playing bows and arrows and the Brit lass got the gold, now that was great really good bit of shooting and all that but my joy was lifted even higher when it came to the flag raising bit, instead of the dreary old god save the queen they played Jerusalem, why oh why don't we have it as our National anthem, it's such an iconic bit of soul stirring music compared to the normal old slow lifeless washed out monotone one we have to suffer.
I guess thought that the limp left that infest every corner of this once proud land feel it's harmless and grey, totally devoid of any passion or vigour with not a ounce of energy anywhere so it offends no one except me that is!.

Many moons ago our neighbours would burst into a stirring rendition of Jerusalem just before they had their tea. We would join in, plus any other neighbours that heard - ah, the joys of terraced living! It is a stirring tune, it does make the heart beat stronger, unlike the German dirge we call our anthem.

If I wasn't English, I would choose to be French. That is the best anthem in the world. It ticks along at a decent rate, is in a major key and is very uplifting. DD

This was a few years ago now. The curent sets of neighbours are all unfriendly, don't say hello when you walk past, it's not as nice living here as it used to be. One summer's day I was belting out Nina Simon's My baby just cares for me etc, opened the back door and there were my neighbours, Andy and Sue, behind their side of the high fence waving their lighters over the top. Laugh? I thought my leg would never dry! DD
