Hi Folks
Just wanted to say that the actress Lysette Anthony, whose young son developed juvenile arthritis at age3, was on Radio 4 this morning appealing for funding for Arthritis Research UK.. I found it very moving listening to her description of her son..
We need more publicity like this, on radio and TV..

I remember reading an article in the Sunday papers at least 18 months ago now about her boy, and the difference steroid injections had made to his joints. This disease is a foul and merciless master/mistress (delete as applicable). I think the problem with arthritis is it isn't fashionable, never has been and never will be. People do need to be better informed - perhaps there will be some good press stuff on Tuesday.
How are you getting on marion? Still coping with work? DDHave you got the despatches? No, I always walk like this. Eddie Braben0 -
Thanks for that, Marion.
You can listen to the appeal on Sunday, 10 October 2010 again at 9.27pm or on Thursday, 14 October at 3.27pm.
I googled to find out more and saw a lovely picture of her beautiful little boy, Jimi.

Thanks elna, I was just about to go and find that out! I like people that save me work! DDHave you got the despatches? No, I always walk like this. Eddie Braben0

Thanks Elna - I'll tell me family to listen to the repeats..
Thanks DD - my new hip is excellent now - just using my walking stick occasionally (ie at the end of the day). My RA is not good at the moment though - especially my fingers (hence I've not been posting much). Have had 2 injections of increased meth (17.5) and have been nauseous this week and also got the dry cough now!! oh, the joys...

Oh marion, what a mixed bag to deal with. I am sorry. The stick thing is good news, but the cough not - when is your next dose due, and should you tell your rheumatology/GP about the cough? My meth nurse always asks me about whether I have had a cough/sore throat as that might affect whether she uses me as a dartboard or not! If in doubt, seek clarification, that's what I tell myself, anyway. DDHave you got the despatches? No, I always walk like this. Eddie Braben0

Thanks DD
It's the dry 'methotrexate side-effect cough' - not an infection-type cough.. I've had it once before, in 2009, and it just came and went after about a week ... I'm not due to inject until next Wed, so I'll see how I am then...
It's that old chestnut - the increased methotrexate has brought my inflammatory markers down to normal(ish) again, but my fingers/ joints are no better and now I've got this blooming cough!!
