3 weeks after seeing the rheumatologist in Norwich I finally received a letter from them. I chased it up last week and I asked them to send a copy to me and to my surprise they did!

The blood tests confirmed that I have Palindromic Rheumatism. My HLA B27 is positive and my rheumatoid factor was slightly positive at 25. All other tests were negative apart from my liver function test ALT was raised and my phosphate is low. They have sent the blood results to my GP and have asked for a repeat of LFT and bone group blood tests and requested that I be referred to a local rheumy for a trial of hydroxychloroquine.

RESULT!

:D

That's great news Clairc.. such a shame though that you have had to go through so much to be taken seriously ... anyway, onwards and upwards now!

I have had OA since mid twenties. It affects my hips and knees. I had a THR on the left aged 30 and now have a resurface-replacement on the right - done May 2010.

Hi, I'm glad you've got a result. The Norfolk & Norwich and my GP had to chase up an MRi result, they wrote to her, but she's querieing it as I seem to have a cyst on an overy that was removed 25 years ago. I've been OKish with them before, though. Love Suexxx

Thanks! I just phoned the surgery and it would appear they HAVEN'T got their letter yet. I might be in the IT department, apparently it's a long process from receiving the letter, to opening the letter to putting it in the GP's tray *rolls eyes*

I have to take my copy of the letter up to the surgery for them to photo copy, except my copy of the letter doesn't have the full blood results so it looks like I've got some more waiting to do.

When the doctor does get the letter I will have to have some more blood tests, wait for the results to see if I need any treatment then wait for a new referral to a local rheumy and probably have more tests and hopefully by the new year I might start on the Hydroxychloroquine.

I think in the circumstances you've been amazingly patient :!:

this is probably a daft question... but why didn't rheummy prescribe the Hydroxy?

seems along time to have to wait.

maybe you can speak to the doc and speed things up?

    Hi Clair

good on you being efficient and getting the treatment :)

I was put on a new med by the rhuemy and my GPs had had the letter since the 27th Sept and didn't spot it in the letter

    honestly

    I am pleased :D

He said he wouldn't be able to treat me because it wasn't practical what with me living 150 miles away. I didn't think he realised how long it would take to get treatment in my area. I probably wouldn't be able to start it straight away anyway what with sugery scheduled for 8 weeks time, I just want to get things sorted and in place for when I can start the treatment.

    I hate waiting! LOL!

Miracle! Just had a phone call from the doctors surgery. They did get the letter after all! They are leaving me a form for my blood tests at reception and I'm seeing my doc on Monday afternoon. They did want to wait until the bloods come back but I wanted to see the doc sooner because of the bladder problems I've got at the moment.

Phew! I think I need a cup of tea now!
