Felling a bit fuzzled.....
I accidently took out 2 humira injections, both still in the box, to prepare for my injection, and didn't realise for an hour. Now what shall I do with the spare unused injection as it has been out of the fridge for an hour! I put it back but should I chuck it away....Anyone done the same?
I am guessing it needs to go in the needle bin but it is full how should I dispose of the humira. I have marked the packet and have 3 injections left in fridge (including this one) so no worries about running out.
Or will it still be okay to use.

Sorry, I have no experience with this med.
What about telephoning a pharmacist? Or your GP for advice?

Your best bet would be to ring Health Care at Home and explain to them what has happened. They can then advise you and amend how many injections you have left until your next delivery, as that might be moved up a week or so to make sure you have enough.0

Oh Elizabeth
I have to agree - ring em and tell em what you have done. I bet it happens all the time. Glad you have plenty though.

Hi Elizabeth - I'm sure your Humira will be fine, but might be worth checking with HC@H if you're not sure, to put your mind at rest.
I'm sure I remember them telling me that, if there was a delay getting them into a fridge after delivery, they were fine for a few hours - and it's not as if today is a warm day (or not here anyway)!
Hope you get it sorted.

Ring healthcare at home. If you are told to dispose of it (likely) then just put the whole syringe, drug and everything in the sharps box.

Well thank you to those who answered. I was being lazy and saving myself looking up the phone number!
So I have phoned them and
Surprisingly it is okay to use. The time limit is up to 24 hours depending on when and where you left it. But I would advise anyone to phone HAH ltd to ask for themselves and to get it on recors as comeback if anyone does the same. My first instinct was that it was no good to use anymore.
Going to put it down to being very, very tired all this week! And a bit stoopid.....

Dear Elizabeth
You are never stoopid. I am pleased that you found out and all is well, in this instance.

Hi Elna,
I was very stoopid. I just thought I had one injection in the box so took it out of the fridge and left it on the table to get ready then noticed two !
Funnily enough I was concerned I was wasting as good humira injection as I know they don't come cheap!

I've did that once, in the past, and I just stuck it back in the fridge. It does have preservative and I guess for that reason. I always check now! DDHave you got the despatches? No, I always walk like this. Eddie Braben0

The delivery people make such a song and dance about getting injections into the fridge quickly that sometimes I wonder what is right or wrong. They do make me feel paranoid about opening the fridge door sometimes!
It has been 2 years since I had all the rules and regs read out to me and haven't taken much notice since as on so much medicaton!

Hi Elizabeth,
They always say about stuff has to be in fridges in mins but glad it was all ok for that one.
Your not stupid flower... not even close! I do the most stupid things now a days so will use what you said when people tell me about how vague I have been.........

Hi Elizabeth,
That was so worrying for you. It’s the sort of thing that is so easily done. Glad you got the reassurance that you needed and all turned out well after all.
Do hope you are feeling a little less tired tomorrow.

Hi, Glad its alright for you. It's worrying when you do someing wrong but it must happen a lot. I once took 2 of the slow release tramadol, soon after I started taking them and as it had so many warnings on the box, I paniced and phoned my GP. The duty doc phoned back and assured me I wouldn't die!!!

Thankyou Sue Iris and Cris,
They do put fear into your heart these medical people. And then when you phone they are all unconcerned...Still better to be safe than sorry.
I have been washed out this week and looking in the mirror is a frightening experience. Spots, rashes, itching, bags under the eyes, lank hair.
As DD said best to check carefully each and every time from now on.
Hope this thread helps others in the future.

Hi Elizabeth
I'm sure your thread has helped others.... at least we all know now that a few hours out of the fridge aren't going to ruin the meds, but as you say best to check it out with the HAH people.
I wondered, after reading how tired etc you're feeling, if you're needing a tonic of some sort Elizabeth? Battling arther in itself tires us out but maybe you're in need of a wee boost or some TLC would be nice eh?!.
Hope you have a good day today and have the opportunity to give yourself a wee treat!

Thankyou Dorcas,
I have had a cold and had to stop my meds. It wouldnt shift but now back on meds I feel a bit frazzled. I would love some pampering as I don't even have time for any TLC sadlyMaybe I will spoil/treat myself as I recently had my DLA stopped and wasnt expecting to get it again( and my Sons DLA also stopped at the same time) so pretty hard up! Both have been reinstated so worry over!
You take care Iris and good luck with ESA.
