Hi All

Ive just opened an e-mail and it says I have an interview for the local prison....I did in all honesty tick the box which declared my disability and they guaranteed you an interview if you met the minimum criteria....
So after printing off all the stuff I need to take with me, half a tree Im kinda thinking "bloody hell"! Guess whose name is on the health declaration though bit? Yep, you guessed it - ATOS!! I wonder will they pass through information and share it with the DWP re my claim for ESA? I mean I dont stand a cat in hell's chance of getting job but if this forfeits my claim im a bit worried now.....

Wish hadnt applied now....

    Oh Elaine

    I wonder what will happen?

I am so very pleased that you got the interveiw though - this HAS to be a boost to your self-esteem :D I knew you could do it :D

I suppose there's nothing you can do about it, but I tend to think I would go ahead anyway and see what happens.

I am proud of you, but not as proud as Sol

    Love

    Elaine,

    Congratulations flower!!!

What does your gut instinct tell you? do you want this job? if so... then go for it!
going for the interview does not mean that you have to take the job if it's offered you.

You have already declared your disability so any prospective employer is going to have to seek medical advice from their occupational health advisers... which in this case is ATOS.
I would seriously doubt that ATOS can use or divulge the information contained in file from your ESA medical.... that would be a breach of confidentiality!

it's more likely they'll ask you to attend another medical geared to look at your health in relation to the prison job.

but first things first.. when's the interview so we can be in your pocket.

I will see what happens, not sure its a place for Sol mind you, bit scary for him.......

    Hi Iris

I dont know, I applied to see if would get interview...Do i want it? Im not sure...I do know im only being interviewed as a formality......
I have declared my disability but it keeps asking q's such as "have you consulted a doctor within the last five years?"...I mean come on, yes but for number of reasons as well as arthur!!!
I think I will take this off to mr jobcentre on monday to see what he thinks....
Im gonna be there 4 November at 13.00 if i go....Sol's not coming, its a bit scary for him, he;s only tiny and i got to protect him....

    Hi Elaine

Good for you, at least an interview makes you feel good about yourself. Atos can legally share information with DLA, Jobcentres etc but Im not sure if they can pass it on to the prison service. Technically they are all government departments, so maybe! It will be interesting to see if Atos have the same opinion as they had at your ESA medical. The show on TV about Atos had a woman who was told she was fit to work by Atos, but when she got a medical through an employment application with Atos, she was told she was not fit for work. There was just over 2 weeks between the medicals so she hadnt deteriated so much over such a short period of time.

Hope all goes well for you, and if you really want the job then fight girl, fight. We might be physically "disabled" but mentally we are fine and capable.

    Regards
    Trisha

    Hi Trisha

Hmm...Its just when i saw that name ATOS i took a sharp intake of breath as the sight of the name brings back horrid things!! Wouldnt put it past them to transfer info but as Im in the "Work Related Category" im doing what government want aint I? getting off me **** n trying?
I have worked as a temp in a CPS (Crown Proesction Service, Witness Care) department and that was one i could tell tales on....I know of people who got off with having 15 points on their licence and another sending inflammatory e-mails but still keeping thier jobs with no repercusiions for just a taster!
Mentally im fine....Well im not dead intelligent but I got good common sense, honesty, hard working and dilligent but that often counts for nothing....Plus I do Popmaster, Weakest Link every day and do well....Easy for me sat at home eh???

    Good message btw...

Hi, The prison service will have its own criteria for your health as the Council did for mine. They can't, I'm sure, use old stuff from previous medicals and will have to go by the Prison Service's rules.

As for getting the interview, it may be that ticking the box helped, but that only helps you get an interview and thats not the same as getting the job, you have to do that yourself at interview!!! :D So nows your chance to go and knock 'umm dead with how great you are!!! ( Not literally as they won't let you out! So lots of Good LUCK. Love Suexx

    Hi Elaine,

Well done for getting to interview. If nothing else it would be really interesting to find out in more detail what the job involves.
Good luck and I hope it goes well for you.

    Well done Elaine.

Well whether you want the job or not, it is good interview experience. What does the job entail?

    Speedy

PS I would have thought most people with/without a disability would have seen a doc in 5 years!!
I have had OA since mid twenties. It affects my hips and knees. I had a THR on the left aged 30 and now have a resurface-replacement on the right - done May 2010.

    Hi Sue

Well im sure ill be jittery as i never tend to do well in these new intrview types where you have to meet criteria in your answers, i need a degree in that i think...
But i will try, all i can do and hope they see me as someone who is trying and even if dont get job they can see im willing and in right place could fit in...
    Thanks for good luck,,,saving them...

    Hi Elaine
You go for the interview, other wise you will always wonder what would have been,
Then you can ask all the questions and take it from there, who knows what will become of it.
    Good Luck

    Elaine good luck!
Just go for it and be yourself......if your personality comes through at interview as it does on here you are on a winner I think!!!!!
