Hi
i was wondering if there was anyone with a previous experience of hip dislocation who could help me. It is 7 weeks since my hip dislocated, and my hip bones/ and pelivis bones are still very sore and tender to touch. In fact, on the outside of my hip (scar area) it feels like there is glass in there at times.
It is also very painful and `grinds` in the joint when I am sat for a while. However, if i am standing/walking for too long my lower back and hips are agony.
I am taking regular pain relief and amitriptiline in eves for nerve pain. I have put up with it for a while thinkingit would be better by now, but its not.
Thanks for reading , and any advice would be great!
NB

    Hi Barbara
Thanks for your support and hug. I am feeling a bit delicate today so it was very welcome. In fact, I went to church today for first time since it happened, and nearly cried when someone asked me how I was and said it was nice to see me! I was so embarassed!

    Hi NB
Sorry I cant help either but just thought I would send some hugs and support.....you're having a rough time of it recently arent you?
I find at church when people ask most of them mean how are you not the usual how are you and then walk away or change the subject that we all get from time to time.

I have had OA since mid twenties. It affects my hips and knees. I had a THR on the left aged 30 and now have a resurface-replacement on the right - done May 2010.

    NB

You've had such a bad time since this hip dislocated. I really am so sorry to hear of your continuing pain.

Sometimes when things are bad and we are 'holding on by a thread', it just takes a note of genuine concern in the voice of another to trigger our emotions. We've all been there NB ... for me it was the kind words of my rheummy!
but being able to let go of our frustration, tiredness, sadness or stress is something we all need to do.....

I hope that you can get some advice and better still help with your hip NB...

    love and (((hugs)))

Iris, I think you are right, my emotions are just simmering away and it doesn`t take much to make them bubble over. Even reading your post put tears in my eyes!
I had quite a good night, for me, so hope my pain will not be too bad today.
Hope you are all doing ok xx

I was just popping in to see how you where feeling, and you beat me to it.
I am so glad you slept better, this can make you feel more human, I was interested in your post when you said you had lower back pain, I am in the process of waiting to have both THR, but all my pain is in my lower back, and not in my hips
You are the first person to say this.

    Hi Barbara
Thats what I found as well.....I was waiting for a double THR like you but it was mostly my back.
They did first THR last Feb, second one was due to be done a couple of weeks ago and they decided to send me for another MRI to check that it wasnt coming from my back {although according to x rays my other hip will need replaced}....They discovered I had problems in 4 or 5 discs.....you only have 5 lumbar discs  So now I'm waiting to see a back specialist before they think about the 2nd THR??????

    Hi Barbara
I have had low back pain for years whilst my hip was deteriorating, and it was a bit bad for a whilst post op. I ahd a lot of physio and hydro th help my back and it did work, until this recent setback with the dislocation etc.. And I think my other hip now playing up is causing back pain. I think at first before x rays and scans etc.. it is difficult to determine whether back pain from hips or vice versa.
Hileena - hope you get to hear about the back appointment soon x
