Hello again,
Now, this is weird. My neck at the back of my head has recently been making funny cracking noises. I've been joking that it feels like my head is about to come loose. Today, I turned my head and something felt odd at the back of my neck. When I touched the spot, there was 'something' sticking out from my neck and it was like a button that I pressed. It 'clicked' back into place!!!! Anyone else had this?

      ooh-er!!!

That is a new one on me.

    Has the clicking now stopped?

I think you should raise this at your next appointment and if it feels different in anyway - sooner rather than later.

I have had OA since mid twenties. It affects my hips and knees. I had a THR on the left aged 30 and now have a resurface-replacement on the right - done May 2010.

    Hi Speedy,
You were very quick in replying!
The clicking hasn't let up. Noticed it last week and now it's there nearly every time I move my head about. I'm seeing a new rhuemy in 2wks so will definitely be telling them this. They'll just shrug their shoulders no doubt :?
    Thanks, Magenta x

    Hi Magenta :D

I agree with speedy.... you need to ask your doc about this.

Rather than wait 2 weeks for rheummy maybe you should see your GP and have your neck examined and xrayed? that way you'd have the results to then discuss with rheummy at your next appointment?

I have arther in my neck and have the grinding noise in my head when I turn my head, but never had anything 'pop' out that I could feel or press back in.

    please see a doc.?

hi Magenta, I've had this before, think it something to do with muscles tensing and relaxing and causing the joints to 'crack'. Might be wrong of course but I do remember it wasn't serious and it went away. Think the thing is not keep doing to check - which is what I did!

    Hi Eileen,

Oh flower I wouldn't leave it two weeks either. Best to get it checked out.

Mine does something similar but its got the ins and needles and doesn't click back in like that. Its does have a lump on it but you need to get it checked out.

Let us know what they say and have they looked at your ankle yet? ((( ))) Cris xx

Just re-read your post and somehow missed the bit about something popping out  Agree with the others you should talk to your gp and not to wait for appt.
    best of luck

    Hi Cris,
How are you? I haven't been to the doctor about anything, just a waste of time. They tell me just to wait till rhuemy appointment. Too much hassle.
I did think of you after I popped whatever it was back in !
    Hope you're ok,

    Hi everyone,
Thanks for your concern. I will wait till my rhuemy appointment. My drs won't do anything. I'll try not to keep touching it!!
I'll let you know how I get on,

Just take it easy for the next couple of weeks. Is there anyway you could give you neck any support? Even a light weight scarf can help.

Wishing you luck with the appointment.

    Hi Eileen,

You know what I am going to ask don't you?! I know they are rubbish at times but you do need to get that looked at and a gp is all there is except miner injuries.... but they will send you back to your gp.....

Was it a one off or does it keep happening? A collar does help with some not with others.... you have to have it looked out flower and I know I am turning into a stuck record!:lol:

I remain work in progress Eileen

Leaving you a (((((( )))))) and its so good to see you about again. Love Cris xx

Like Iris I get the cracking and crunching noises when I move my neck but not the clicking or poping. Don't do anything too strenuous until you've seen someone. Love Sue
