Hi,
I really think you should go and see you your GP.
However if you are worried about going to see him you could ring NHS direct or see a pharmacist for advice - they will more than likely say see your Gp but then you can say to him that you have been advised to see him.
Let us know how things go.
SpeedyI have had OA since mid twenties. It affects my hips and knees. I had a THR on the left aged 30 and now have a resurface-replacement on the right - done May 2010.0 -
Hi Helen,
Nice to meet you and welcome to the forums
I like speedy and think you would be best to get some advice. Try not to worry and let us know how you get on please? Cris x0 -
Hi
Methotrexate can cause bruising and if you get it you need to get checked out eg a blood test. I had the same problem and my rheummy nurse ordered some extra bloods to make sure that everything is ok. They will take you off it if there is a problem but I am sure you will be fine. Get in touch with your nurse or doc as others have suggested and get it checked out

I have a fair few bruises. I don't know if it's the meth or not, I think for me the more likely culprit is the prednisalone. I bruised very badly when I started sulphasalazine but that soon settled. My bloods are fine, so I am not that bothered, but if you are then go and get it checked out. That is always the best thing to do. These meds are not pleasant, they can cause problems, and that is why doctors are there. I wish you well. DDHave you got the despatches? No, I always walk like this. Eddie Braben0

Hi Helen
You could always start with the pharmacist? they know loads of useful stuff and at least can advise?
My friend had this and was only on tramadol, lansoprazole and ibuprofen - her doc said it was one of those, but me being me i am sorry I cant remember which
Do get it sorted to be on teh safe side though.

Im with Toni on this, if you see your pharmacist first, and they tell you to go to your GP, then you wont feel has bad going.
Please let us know how you get on

You MUST see the GP. I don't want to scare you as it could be anything but on the other hand it is a serious symptom. It was how I first got diagnosed with ITP (my clotting cells are destroyed by my immune system). ITP is very rare so don't panic but please do get it checked out asap.

Haven't you got a specialist nurse? Ring them up, or your consultant. Who does your blood tests, hospital or surgery? I would call whoever does them and is in charge of prescribing. My gp won't interfere with my rheumy drugs as she says it is a specialist area.0

Hello, I agree with the others, you need to get some advice from your doctor. I know some medications increase bruising but, better to be sure! Love Sue0

HI Helend,
glad you got the bloods done and sorry you are sore from their efforts. Did you get them to take a peek at your bruises? What did they say?

Hi helen, I am glad you did your bloods nad I hope the results are OK. Make sure you get them! Are the bruises still there? If so you should really see someone: I am sure it is just the meds (they affect people differently) but as it was worrying you it is best to be sure. Take care. DDHave you got the despatches? No, I always walk like this. Eddie Braben0
